Tap/Rack drills. Dry fire them daily.

That's a good idea.

Need to develop that muscle memory.

You have nice taste!! [thumbsup] I have two of the Belgium Browning take down .22 autos that I have had since I was a kid. I love those guns!! Ah, I have a few others too... it would take up too much cyber space to start the list!! [laugh] Something about fire sticks and scooters just seem to go together so well! Don't get me started on 1911s and M4s! ;D Good luck with adding to your collection.

The Belgium Browning was what I first learned to shoot.  Still have it.  Wish I had that slick case!

Agreed, sweet little .22 auto. Had to train my step son on the "load from the end of the stock" technique. Didn't take long for him to get in groove. Just different from 10/22 Ruger and Winchester model 94 reloads!

My bestfriend is in town for the weekend and he is a big elk hunter.

I didn't think he had been for a few years, so I tried to buy his 270 win mag CZ rifle from him, but apparently that was a no go.

Unbeknown to me, he was out in Wyoming this past fall and bagged a nice Elk sow.

take home was 350lbs of meat

and the dick didn't have the common decency to bring me any....... >:(

That must have been a big ass Elk.

All I can base it off of is what he told me.........but I agree........that is a lot of meat and I thought about it when he told me, but typically don't question him as he is not a bullshitter.

He said he had 500lbs in his freezer until everyone came by and picked up their share, so maybe he kept that much?

I have no idea, but he said it was a big female.......but on your chart.......that would have been a huge animal.

I just wish he brought me some!! The round steak is phenomenal and of course I am sure the back strap is excellent (based on how good venison strap is), but there is no way he'd give that away!

back to guns.......

any advice Kopj on shooting my Keltec 32 or Beretta Tomcat 32?

I am good at <5ft but anything over that, I spray rounds all over the place.

But the more I think about it.......that gun is probably suited for very close use verse longer distance, so is it even worth practicing longer shooting with it?

My first two guns were tube mags loaded from the butt.  I had a friend with a tube mag 22 that loaded from the tube ala Marlin 60 and he had a round go off in the tube, setting off all the other rounds.  His hand was on the barrel near the end of the mag and it took off a little of his index finger and most of his other three fingers above the first knuckle.  Bad kaboom day.......

Wow! I have never heard of that happening. Over the years I have wondered about tube magazines with bullet tips pressing up against primers under spring pressure. I have the Browning autos with their load from the rear/stock tubes as well as several calibers of Winchester 94s. Guess I'm lucky that hasn't happened on my .30-.30 or .45 Long Colt!! :P

I think it is VERY rare.  I wasn't there, so I can't say how it happened - I did see the carnage both to his hand and to the gun.  I seem to recall he may have dropped it while or shortly after loading it.  We were crazy kids then, I was 15 and he was 17 or 18.  I shot with him and his brother all the time and we were a little nuts. I'd be in Gitmo if I was a kid today......

I'd love to have a 45 colt lever gun to go with my Vaquero.  A friend is getting rid of a bunch of guns to fund the purchase of a cabin in the country.  He's got 357 and a 44 mag lever guns for sale right now.  I don't want to add another caliber, or I'd own one.  As it is, I'm picking up a Rem 700 SPS in 308 from him for practically nothing.

Nice to have the .308 700 Remington going to a good home!

I have a couple of Colt 3rd generation Single Action Armys, one each in .357 mag and .45 Long Colt. That's the only reason I got the Winchester 94s in those calibers. The .30-.30 is an old one inherited from my late Dad and the other is a good old fashioned .22lr with about a million rounds shot through it! [laugh] Surprised there are any lands and grooves left in the barrel!! One of my all time favorite firearms. [thumbsup] Cheap and fun, can't beat it. Too bad the old Winchester Connecticut plant got shut down and the model 94s became extinct. Sad. I'm sure that made Marlin happy!!

Those little guns aren't really accurate past 10ft. I mean you can still hit a man size tgt out past that, but you have to really slow down and get on that front site.

Shoot slow aimed fire drills from position 3. Single shots working to controlled pairs, body armor drills etc. (dry fire and work on trigger control, concentrate on staging the trigger from 3 to 4)

These aren't tgt guns, so if you can put rounds center mass, (10-15ft and in) that's all you really need

Good advice. Better put your reading glasses on to find those front sights though!! [laugh] Both pistols have itty bitty front sights as you well know. I loved my little Kel-Tec as a mini carry gun. Shot a friend's Ruger LCP and liked it so much I picked up one of those too. Like kopfjager said, I never figured them to be good for anything more than an arms length to 10 foot distance. In a case like that I damn sure wouldn't worry about a tight group, I'd take any hit I get as long as it stops the trouble!

You can put a little orange or white paint on that front site post to help you pick it up.

That is how mine is set up. Gun was purchased from a friend who I am assuming did the orange paint work on it.

Sorry for the IZ quality photos, it was hard to get a decent photo, but at least you can see the sight set up with the orange. Also, I put a hidden little note in one the photos  [thumbsup]

Saaaaaweeeet! I love my FALs!! DSA makes a really good version.

I finally got to shoot it today and I think I'm really gonna like this one.  I just need to do something with the trigger.  Holy shit, that thing is heavy!  That's really the only problem I have with it.
