It will slightly change your grip. Try it the other way and see how it feels. I have never used a Hogue
grip on my Glocks, nor do any of my guy's.

I would shoot it with and without (a lot). Then make the call.

I like the Hogue on target guns but not on a carry piece.  It makes shooting much easier, but such contemplative shooting doesn't happen in real life.

We used friction tape on rifles in the field, but weren't trying to pull an M16 out of our waistbands to use it against OJ Simpson.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

that's just a random google search

I shoot a 1st gen Sigma with a shot out barrel

I really don't have to worry about grip angles

or hitting anything for that matter

That's why we don't use them.  ;) I ground off the finger grooves on my newer frames. I don't like the grip telling me
where my fingers should go. I much prefer my older model 17 frames.

Some guys will use skateboard tape. Someone makes some that is the shape of the sides of the grip. I just don't like shit on my guns.

lol, we didn't have the resources to be so finicky..  it did make a different for me, sweat was everywhere and the stock just got slippery.  plus we were constantly drinking and dumping water to stay cool and cheek weld was not a luxury item.

I also like the first gen/older Glocks w/out the finger grooves. I ended up with a new style G-19 with finger grooves and rail in a trade deal but I still like all my older groove-less Glocks better. Just personal preference. ;D

Now that I think about it.............I think I have put all my hogue grips on wrong too because I modeled them all after the Glock 21 because I liked the way it felt and I figured the guy at the gunshop would put it on correctly. Also when you buy them, don't they come in the package like how it is mounted on the Glock Tiff posted?

Now I feel like a jackmake the beast with two backs.

So maybe the upside down method works for me?

I think I'll take the advice above and remove one, flip it around and then see how it feels. I will take two guns to the range, one upside down, one right side up and then compare.

I am not gonna lie, though...........it is nice upside down.

Any tips for becoming a better shot with a 1911?

It's an old well used gun, so I think some of the accuracy bleeds off because of that.

The rest of the issue is me, Im sure.

It's nicer right side up.  Pachmyer is kind enough to mold the logo onto the rubber band so you know what's what.

make sure the pistol is mechanically good.  check throat and chamber erosion, check the linkage fit, and barrel lockup.  barrel should not move much when in battery.

other than that, dry fire it a lot (get some duds or dry fire rounds)

also, pick up a ruger 22/45 to fire with 22 and get a better feel for a 1911's grip.

not sure what else.  have you video'd yourself firing?  try it.

I make the beast with two backsing love 1911s and Browning Hi Powers!!!! I won't even begin to suggest improvements to your shooting. I'll leave that to others. I was raised on them, my ideas probably just apply to me. Again, I'll leave decent advice to the pros. You want tact shotgun tips? Great, I can do that. But single action pistol shit is my home base but I'd prefer not to sound like a dick and tell you "how it's done". I also am not telling you advice from others is coming from a "dick"!! ;D Lots of good info from this group!!

You know, I really like the the Ruger .22 suggestion. Damn good idea. [thumbsup] Heck, if you can find a buddy with a 9mm Hi Power that would be a nice step up from the .22 Ruger. .22 to 9mm to .45acp. They all work the same. Good learning curve!! ;D Good luck with it all. Millions of 1911 lovers can't be wrong!! [laugh]

I thought I was installing them correctly, but again, my ignorance was based off the gun shop putting it on Tiff's gun as she like's a "fatter" grip as she has larger hands (she is 5' 10").

I'll have to check out my other pieces to see if I put them on right.

I feel like a make the beast with two backsing idiot for my error in installation, but then again, I am dumb a lot of the times.

great ideas!

I think the gun is ok but I'll look it over.

I think the other thing that would help me is more trigger time. I'm still new at this.

I shoot home loads if it matters.
