Will 695 ignition coils work on a 620?

Should be. You can download the parts listings form Ducati.  I've got a 2000 900, and it shares the coil part # w/ 620s
-Throttle's on the right, so are the brakes.  Good luck.
- '00 M900S with all the farkles
- '08 KTM 690 StupidMoto
- '07 Triumph 675 Track bike.

I imagine they'd work... not too many changes from 620 to 695

Looked 'em up in the parts catalogue.  They are not the same.

For the most part, the difference is:

round coil vs square coil

Looks like the lead wire connections are different too.  Single connector on the 695, double on the 620.  Do the 695 coils share a common ground?  If you connected the positive lead wires from the 620 to the 695 coils, could you just ground the negative leads, or would that not work?

There's a ground, the connectors are just different.

Cool, thanks.  What about other coils?  e.g. The Dynacoil upgrade that CA Cycleworks has lists it for the carb'd 2v bikes.  Will they work for FI?  Hate to be so simple-minded about all of this, but I think I've got a coil that's crapping out and I'm just looking for alternatives.

I talked to Ca-Cycleworks about their Dyna Coil Kits awhile back.  As I recall, they only offer coil kits for the carb'd bikes because the mounting is different for later models.

But Dyna makes coils that will work on just about any bike, you just have to figure out how to mount them.   The main thing is to get new coils with the right internal resistance.  My M620 coils measure 3.9 Ohms and I have some old Dyna coils from another project that measure 3.0 Ohms so I'm going to check with Dyna to see if they are OK to use.

I was going to suggest Dyna coils earlier but wasn't sure the reason for your coil compatibility question.  I've used them on other bikes and they make a noticeable difference.
