That's why I quit watching USA Soccer about 15 years ago.

they are so make the beast with two backsing inconsistent.

I hope they carry this play forward.  Their last few games before the Conf Cup were dismal and obviously they gelled during the tournament.  I don't think they were inconsistent in that game at all, just more that they tired and the passes and lanes they were cutting off in the beginning were harder to get to as the game wore.  The US has never had that crisp passing game and Brazil is way too good at it.
No knock on Donovan, the guy was everywhere, but why can't the US produce a top tier midfielder?  If we had a creative offensive midfielder as elite as our goalies it would certainly help.  Howard was exceptional.
