By a great stroke of luck I have Friday off work.  I would be up for another early morning ride.  Anyone interested?  [moto]

Maybe. Where were you thinking of riding? I have some domestic projects that I need to get done at the house, so I can't be gone all day.

Operative word: Early.  Meaning still dark out early.  Cool out early.  Still waiting for the donut shops to open up early.

If I don't go camping I will most likely show. Where are you thinking, Salt River Canyon or Mt. Lemon maybe?

An SRC run would be fun, and maybe make the Winkelman loop on the way back?  Breakfast in Globe?  I know there's another group planning to go out there on the same day, they are leaving Idaho Rd. around 5:30.  Maybe try and get out before that?

I like the sound of a Kearney-Taliwhacker run! Doing SRC too? Might not have a furlough for all that? Like Dave, I have been putting off a lot of domestic duties and plan on utilizing the Holiday weekend for "catch-up". Early out....great! Good breakfast in Superior too. I wonder what the construction situation is going out that way? They've had an extra month to tear it up some more.

I'm gonna sit this one out.  Keepin' it real close to home until I can figure out this idle-stumble thing.  Next attempt... new front spark plug coil.

...now back to your regularly broadcasted program...

Been monkeying with it for the last few hours.  Had the airbox totally out, and headlight off to check all of the connectors.  Cut the plug wires back a little to make sure of good connections between caps and coils.  Idled okay for a while just sitting in the driveway.  Took it for a ride, and by the time I got to the first traffic light... stumble.  It's getting worse.  Got back home.  Pull the plug wire off of the H cyl and the bike idles low.  Put the plug wire back on the H cyl and I can get the bike to mimic the stumble behavior.  Pull the plug wire off of the V cyl and the bike dies.  I think I may have a bad H cyl ignition coil.  Another one is on the way via fleaBay.

That is some good detective work there. How hard is it to swap the coils? Could you presumably swap the horizontal and vertical coils, then repeat your experiment? That would for sure give you the right answer. Have you checked the conductivity of the plug wires? This could also be one of the culprits.
Oh yeah, and what Dietrich said.

Hey! This is a ride thread, not a "why I can't ride" thread. Smiley

Any more votes on a direction/time for Friday morning?

I'm not going to be able to make it. I have to get my truck to emissions for my registration to get processed and I have to many domestic things to get caught up with thanks to the extra day off.

Friday AM @ 5:30 meeting at Idaho Rd works for me.
Ride thru Globe and Winkleman works. Clockwise/counter clockwise?
A mention up Salt River Canyon, how far up then turn around?
We may need our rain gear again but sounds cooling.
Let me know
