replacing turn signals and the threaded posts are too short

Just wondering if anyone had suggestions here. I bought some new signals for a Honda project bike and the front signals don't fit in the slots. The original part has an inch and a half long threaded post but the universal replacements have about a half inch threaded post. The diameter is fine, but length is the issue (rimshot?).

It's an 85 Honda Rebel if that matters.

I think I'm just going to use some P clamps and hang the signals on the forks.
