Sort of a hypothetical....

My bike is for sale & I work with someone who rides who I also want to stab in the eye. Then I got to wondering, if he came up & said I would like to buy your bike and slapped down what I wanted for it, I'm thinking I wouldn't sell it to him 'cause I make the beast with two backsen hate him & seeing him on 'my' pride & joy would tear my heart out. But, his money is as good as anyones and it wouldn't be my bike anymore anyway.

Plus, I'm selling it 'cause I have to, not 'cause I want to.  Cry

Should have added a 10% "I hate you" Tax Super, but either way, cash is cash. As long as the amount is what you wanted.

You can still stab them in the eye once you have their money.  waytogo

i wouldnt sell it to him...or anyone else i work with. to much potential for (more) bad blood down the line when there is some problem with the bike.

agreed.  I don't do business on mechanical items with people I know, even if I don't like them.

Refusing to do business with someone you don't like or who is rude? Who wins? I sold home improvements for the last 10 years. If the person was a nut, meaning they would obviously be a problem customer, I would pass. If they were rude? I had a few of those. Rude while I was working on their neighbors home, year or two passes, then they call me for a quote, forgetting how they treated me. I sold all of them. They all paid $1,000 more then they would have. I win.

No

Never sell a car or a bike in this case to anybody you know.  Whether it's your friend or co-worker you see everyday.  If you do, whatever happens to that vichecle in the future, you are going to hear about it.

Avoid all that drama.  Cut it loose and sell it to a stranger

Yup. His money's not hateworthy. Business is business-you need money, he has money-take it.

Just don't misrepresent the bike.

Though it's a good time to get the cops used to seeing a certain year/colour scheme bike that runs from them.  Tongue

I sold my ol' 98 M900 special to a guy I didn't really like. In fact I thought he was a Brian W. He make the beast with two backsed around for weeks before making an offer. But I needed to sell it so I did. A day later, I realised I'd left my plug tool under the seat, so I called him and told him that I needed it back, and could give him the ORIGINAL Ducati tool in return. He said something like - "...well, if you really wanna get it, OK - but it's only a 10 buck tool...". Then I KNEW he was a Brian W.

Would I have still sold him the bike...? Yeah.  Did I get the tool...? You make the beast with two backsen bet your arse I did...coffee
