Hello all..

I have been struggling to get a manual from Ducati...thus the issue..  It is preemo riding season in Pa.  Yet my bike is strung and hung in my garage.

I would appreciate any help...detailed preferred on how to change out my front sprocket..and remove and replace my rear with a quick change carrier on the rear.  I have all the parts that I need, even tools.  I could use some tips.  However, I have been to all the video links on how to do these things...they are shady at best.  No real detail.  If you gents and ladies could help I would be most thankful.

Drew...06 S2R 1K.

you will want to loosen the eccentric adjuster on the swingarm so you can fully slacken the chain
for the front,
1) take off the cover,
2) loosen and remove the two retaining bolts on countershaft sproket
3)pull off front sprocket

Also, try running a search using the search function at the top left of the page.

If you have the big single nut on the front sprocket you might run into difficulty, as there is not enough play in the chain to get the sprocket of the shaft.

My S2R1000 doesn't have the 2 bolts for the countershaft sprocket. Mine has one large nut with the bent washer behind it...

if you have the 1 large nut....good luck. most bikes that are well ridden....they aint comming of without a fight. rear sprocket? Its simple enough, its only 6 bolts. go for it. just rememeber to loosen those two pinch bolts at the rear of the swing arm so you can loosen the chain.

yup. you have an 06? half of the S2R1000 came with the 2 bolts, and the rest came out with the large ass nut. which i was never able to get off...which is why i sold the 14T sprocket. no impact gun and i could stand on the damn thing with a plumbing wrench with its teeth sinked into the socket and it wouldnt budge. i tried both ways since i didnt know if it was CCW or CW.

Mr.Jinggles

Yup, I have the big ass nut with the bent washer.......great... [bang]...well the rear seems easy enough...I'll start there...6 bolts, 2 pinch bolts....what are the TQ specs for those six bolts, and the pinch bolts if you would be so kind.

Yes....have not tried to remove it yet though...sure wish I had the two retaining bolts...I wonder if there is a conversion for the the single nut...

Anyone know?

I have a full 520 conversion kit waiting to go on. Not looking forward to trying to remove that one...

Rattle gun!!! i think its about 155ft/lbs? + frictional force + locktite + rust corrosion force + i dont want to move force. you may be lucky and have one that comes off easily.

NAKID any implications to installing a 520 kit? i was always under the assumption thye went up to 525 cause of the torque from the DS1000. My friend runs a 530 on his 93 CBR600... kind of overkill

NAKID

Shouldn't be a problem. I have hear a lot of people have done it. Form what I have seen, all the dry clutched Ducati's ran 525...

2 pinch bolts  for the eccentric are: 24 ft-lbs
6 sprocket bolts are: 35 ft-lbs
