Ok guys.. this is the Monster Forum....
I have a 2010 M1100 here, need to do a few things to it.. Going to smooth it out and make it pretty, fit a set of leo Slip ons, ECU, and do the suspension.
Im really looking for a few other smaller touches to do to it.. suggestions?

How about a trellis sub-frame instead of that Japanese-looking hybrid thing it's got?
I mean do something "real". Like we used to do to our "older" Monsters. You've got the resources. And I assume the talent.
Bolt on this, and Rizoma that, and different colored tank skins... oooohhhhh how fancy
C'mon. Can't someone do something
good
for the Monster again?
IMO the new M line-up belongs on the show "SuperBikes". It's lost its soul.
GIVE IT SOME SOUL!!!

Yeah, that would be a nice idea.
Get rid of the trumpets, the plastic stuff in front of the engine, bikini fairing and stuff.
open clutch, open belts, remove the airbox, kinda ditch everywhere plastic if possible.
The RAD Ducati 02 Corsa would be a great inspiration i think

Apply the same philosophy you used on the Streetfighter with explanations short of giving away any trade secrets.

Its red, and needs to stay thay way... It will have custom slip ons, this isnt a huge budget build, but its for a good friend, so it needs some love...
I cant do a lot in the way of structural mods, as the bike is owned by Ducati, Wish I could do the subframe.
I guess I should have said up front, that it really has to be cosmetic.
I will for sure ditch all the EPA stuff, and that hideous "radiator shroud" thing that stick out around the front of the bike... puke... The airbox and all the other stuff will get ditched as well. Might as well powdercoat the frame and swingarm., smooth out the cast bits (I still dont think there should be any cast alumiunum bits on a Ducati, Trelis frame, remember?)
Rearsets, better bars, etc etc... Its really a shame that the welds now look so production. I used to have a Franco Farn welded frame.. it was art work, but that was 93, and things have changed a bit since then.
For this build, I can, and will take pics and show a step by step.

Jebus... sounds like just another Extreme Makeover Ducati Edition. Maybe you can get Nubby from the OCC show to paint it for ya.

ok IF i had an 1100 and the cash.
I would rework the air intakes to be some kind of ram intakes into separate intake funnels.
Work in the PC V to adjust the fueling.
Get the full termi pipes or better yet, build custom pipes with the same lines as the stock minus the exhaust valve.
I would also use Ryanracer's underseat exhaust set farther back towards the tail.
I like the Spider rearset monoposto
I am going to be shot here for forgetting his name, but someone else was working on a new tankskin style that was only two parts instead of 4, i would change it to the 2 parter
Clips ons
Of course smooth out the cast parts and powdercoat the entire frame red. with some black in the bulky parts of the rear subframe to clean up the lines. look at that purple monster special rear subframe, at first i though it was cut, but really it was painted.
Red rims
oh and as far as red bike... learned something from the factory... Ducatis' originally were silver. the red came when the racing committees assigned colors to countries.
so a silver bike with red frame like the 1100 comes is closer to original Ducati colors
black the headlight frame. or go 8" round
of course short tail but with integrated rear light/signals
front small signals.
SBK front fender body color not carbon
ok i'm sure there is more, but that's all i can think of right now

If you know someone who does glass work, I'd love to see the front headlight remaid so as not to have the unibrow going across it. I like the shape and slope of the new headlight, but one without the unibrow would look much better imo.

well if you really have a 2010 than you are a leg up on everyone here as we have not seen one in the showrooms yet..??
As far as customization goes it's a clean slate with the new series Monsters. Generally cleaning up the welds, tiding up wiring, oil lines and such is a good start. If you eliminate the airbox you are going to have some see thru screen in the tank that may have a strange effect on airflow across the filters..
Why not use those holes for something else ??
