Has anyone removed the backpressure valve and motor from a m1100? I know the full termi system deletes this crappy part but I was wondering if it was possible to remove it while keeping the stock headers. Any adverse effects without mapping modifications?

thanks in advance

I actually talked with the Duc mechanic about removing mine. It came up because a friend with an M1100 was having problems with the ECU and the valve. I asked the mechanic if he could simply remove the valve & put a connection in the wiring that would relay to the ECU that the valve was still there. He said he couldn't because the ECU "checks" the valve often... that is the pump like noise you sometimes hear at start-up. The solenoid is actually operating the valve. The only recommendation he had was going to a full Termi system. Which is a bummer since I already bought/installed the Termi slip-on.

For me, I guess I am stuck with the stupid valve/solenoid. I blame California.

i read an article recently and the valve helps boost the low and mid range torque. deleting it would negatively affect your powerband unless you went to the full system with the DP ECU.

I would be very surprised if removing/disabling the flapper without adjusting the map didn't effect your fueling. Full Termi == DP ECU with a new map which removes the adjustment for the flapper. PC or other custom map would fix any issues with removing it.

I agree that if you remove it on the stock ECU and can figure out a way for "trick" the ECU into thinking it is there is the way to go. Personal experience on my S2R1K with the O2 sensor disconnected led me to believe that the map being run without the O2 sensor disconnected is very different than the normal one (A FatDuc made this all better though). I wouldn't expect your ECU to behave all that differently if it thinks the flapper is busted.
