I'm on the Big Island with a Monster 1100 & paying $600 per year through Progressive. That seems kinda high.
Does that sound about right?

It all depends on your age, riding background experience, amount of coverage and bunches of other factors. That doesn't sound bad though. I'm what you would call an insurance favorite and I think I pay more than that on a new 848 through GEICO and they were a damn site bit better than Progressive when I last inquired.

No modification goes unpunished. Memento mori. Good people drink good beer. Things happen pretty fast at high speeds.
It's all up to your will level, your thrill level and your skill level. Everything else is just fluff.

Yea, I would give Geico a call. I don't remember what Progressive quoted me, but I do know that Geico was significantly lower.

I'm 41. I've had a MC license continuously since I was about 24. Own my house (weirdly this is a factor they look at). I've had a total of two speeding tickets in my life (love radar detectors ).In the last ten + years, the only accident i've been in was getting rear ended while stopped at a light. Seems like I would qualify for a good rate. The only thing I'm missing is a Motorcycle Safety Course, which isn't offered here on the Big Island. I got a quote from Progressive on the 848...looked at one when I got the Monster...they wanted something like $2k a year!!! That is more than the full coverage on my wife's Audi!!!

that's about what I pay for my 620 from progressive.
31, no tix/accidents (ever), full coverage.
geico can suck my balls. I saved $1400/year by switching FROM them when I bought my gti

Yep. Geico wanted $2k a year for the Audi w/o comprehensive coverage. That's why I didn't talk to them about the Monster. I figured they'd be too high.

Who are you guys insured with now? I was using USAA when living in the UK and in Germany, shopped around and found out that Geico was significantly cheaper that USAA (and everyone else for that matter) on all of my vehicles.

allstate for car (when I bought the bike, they had an "all ducati" exclusion for bikes. idk about now, though) progressive for bike
was going to look into a homeowner's policy w/allstate so I can combo the car... and ask about the bike again. but I'm lazy like that

I've got Allstate for my homeowners insurance... I might check if I can get a deal by switching the car & Duc to them also.

I have the USAA for everything. I have always had bad luck with Geico, even as a gov't employee. The last time I tried them (about 3 years ago), they wanted to charge me about 50% more for just two cars and a bike than I was paying at the time for two cars, a bike, and homeowners insurance.
even I'm not that dumb.
