Tighten/loosen chain on SSS ?

Anybody know how to tighten/loosen the chain on a SSS without the tool ? I wanna put my 15 tooth sprocket back on, and I know there is a way , but I just cant remember ....

loosen the two bolts at the end of the swingarm, and use a screw driver and a mallet to hit the eccentric. as it spins it will either loosen or tighten it. just 3-4 taps should do it.

I thought about that, but i didnt want to chip it ... My coworker had helped me, and it had to do with a pry bar tru the rear sprocket to hold it in place, and turning the rear wheel, or pushing on the rear brake ? it was smthg funky ... i wish i cud get hold of him ....

its called a chain adjustment tool, C-wrench, Cspanner, etc.

you your not going to chip it with a screw driver. you could probably wrpa a t shirt around it and it would move, if you needed significant force, then that would be a differnet story. Be cautious, if it isnt moving, try the other way to loosen it up, if it still isnt moving, the grease is probably all dried out and a tool would be the best bet. you sould be able to find one at home depot that is close enough to fit it.

There is a handy dandy little one that came in the tool kit on the 748.  Some assembly required.  I have seen these nicer ones but for the frequency that I actually have to use one, the tool kit spanner works fine.

You also can put the screwdriver through the rear sprocket from the left side - and put the flat part of the screwdriver into the slots cut out of the adjuster - it's got square teeth cut into it - if you find the right size screw driver, you can alsmost get a perfect fit.

Then you can rotate the wheel forwards or backwards - while on a stand, to put some leverage onto the screwdriver so it turnd the adjuster - the sprocket will connect with the screwdriver and force the adjuster to move.
