One of an increasingly rare breed of journalists who told the story without being overly sensational and dramatic.

I learned so much about the world as a kid from hearing his voice on the "In The News" segments they used to run between cartoons on Saturday mornings.

R.I.P. Mr. Cronkite.

RIP Walter,  "The most trusted man in America".  Truly worthy of the term ICON.
Sold: 2007 S2R1000 for canyon carving and commuting - DP ECU, PCIII, BMC air filter with open box, Zard full exhaust, Race-tech fork internals, Ohlins steering damper, and a Penske 8987 triple clicker

2000 996XU (extra ugly) for track days - BST carbon wheels, Ohlins shock, reworked fork, FBF exhaust, and a bunch of megacycle rocker arms. The rest of it is junk - Hey, I'm just happy that it runs...

Sold: 2002 Aprilia RST1000 for touring - De-restricted airbox, Taylormade Racing exhaust

Why do roaches always die on their back?

That because the survivors flip them over to steal their sneakers and wallets.

Someone posted this on another forum and I thought it was a cool little piece Cronkite did on sports car racing, especially with the ALMS race at Lime Rock this weekend

He made a difference - we should all be so lucky. I remember watching him as a child. His impact spread over several generations.

Will any of the current crop of 'newspersons' be revered as such years from now? I have my doubts.

RIP, Walter.

Old-Duckman

Might come as a surprise to some...it did to me, but he was a supporter of one world government and the New World Order.
