What should I check after driving through a torrential downpour?

Ok as some of you know, I got my bike last friday. So I was riding it today, and bam out of nowhere the weather changes for the worse. And the next thing I know I'm riding through a thunder-storm. It has to be one scariest moments in my life. It like riding while there's firefighters spraying you with a constant strong stream of water. At one of point, there was so much rain I thought i was underwater. But ok, nonetheless I just wanted to make sure the bike is ok. And is there anything I should check once it dries up. The bike's in my garage right now, but tomorrow morning I'm going to see if the chain needs to be lubed again. But is there anything else I should look/check?

What year and model of Monster do you have?

Pending bike, the guages have been prone to letting in some moisture--only if you're under water though

i rode my bike in torrential downpours for 5 weeks.

my chain is rusty. but thats about it.

Nothing to worry about,those bikes are meant to be ridden wet or dry,just a PIA cleaning it though.

Not sure how water-tight the 696's are.

Certainly lube the chain.

the chain for sure. and something i learned... the clutch and brake levers. lube them as well. after some heavy downpours my clutch was sticky. i ride all the time in the rain, sometimes heavy stuff. no problems.

After riding in heavy rains I've always found dousing the entire system in a very high-grade Kentucky Bourbon has resolved all of the problems.

Been through a couple of downpours myself including wading through a 2 feet deep "river" on the freeway.

1) dry it off the best you can.  That air blaster is great.
2) Before you put it way, make sure you dry the brake rotor and pads, but doing some slow stops....both front and back
3) You should clean the bike to get rid of any sh#t that may be in the road spray...don't want corrosion
4) Lubing the chain is a good idea
5) Pop open the airbox.  I found a small pool of water in the bottom section.  Leave your air filter out to dry quickly so it doesn't mold
6) Check all the electronics the next day to make sure you didn't short out anything.
7) Run the bike the next day and get all parts to operational temperature the next day to burn off any water condensate you may have picked up in the fluids.
