am watching the isle of man TT practice sessions now.  WOW!!! these racers are crazy fast.  and, the highdef camera work and no commercials for the entire hour, make this amazing to watch ... although, for americans, they really should include sub-titles, as the accents of the commentators is "tick" Roll Eyes

the actual races (superbike, sidecar, superstock, etc...) will be next week.  check out on your cable schedule ... and record.

I grabbed a whole set of Isle of Man TT stuff off of Racing Underground as it was happening.  That includes four full laps in four different classes from onboard cameras with the rider talking us through the entire route.  For some reason, the Isle of Man racing feels way faster than MotoGP or World Superbike.  I guess it has something to do with how close they are to certain death if they make a mistake in many parts of the course.

+1         I <3  the Manx TT
I think its the perspective of bumpy roads and proximity to stationary objects (like stone walls and pubs) wizzzzzzing past their helmets.  The fact that they catch air under both wheels about every 30 seconds, and the cameras embedded on the track.
OMG that is some dangerous racing. Those guys have kahunas.

Now will someone please invite me into racing underground so I can watch pleeease! I promise to be good!

Those guys have Hawaiian priests?  Roll Eyes

Would love to give out RU invite codes, but don't have any to give currently.  Next time they give me more, I need to only invite people who can guarantee to keep a positive upload-download ratio so that it doesn't reflect poorly on me.  I already have a hard enough time keeping from sinking so far negative that they kick me off.  I'm at -18.4GB right now but very slowly creeping back in the positive direction.  I only use my home system for downloads and it isn't left on for long when I'm not using it.

Since RU invite codes are rare enough and seem to be in high enough demand, I'm surprised somebody doesn't sell them on eBay or something.  Smiley

If they ever have open enrollment, I'll try to get the word out.

Heh. I was an all-star member a couple years back when I used them frequently - would generally just leave things seeding on my home machine for months after I had downloaded. But then I didn't use RU for at least a year, and when I came back they had reset and gone invite-only  Angry

130 mph average over the span of 1 lap - absolutely insane.

u guys should check out the youtube clip where they interview Rossi after he did his parade lap around the island.  'So, do you think it's safe to have a race stop at the Isle here like they have done historically?'.  'No!'   laughingdp

The current record is 131.5 mph average for 37.73 miles.

If any of you haven't seen a lap of the Isle of Man, here is a two part clip of Guy Martin doing it.  He's one of the top riders, but I don't think he won any of the events this year.  He came in about 4th place in the senior TT (or something).

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Valentino Rossi took a lap or two with Giacomo Agostini.  I'm sure they were riding faster than you or I could go, but nowhere near a race pace.  They interviewed him after the ride.

Here is a video on the subject:

I loved Rossi's plug for the R1

...for sure this R1 is very fast, ehhhh, reminds me of my GP bike ...except is verry verry F*king ugly.
OMG I can't believe they make me sit on dis thing. Why, it has to be so ugly? Why?

I may have embellished the "quote" a little.  cheeky

Haha you're the first other person I've seen from RU... I have about a 50+:1 ratio on there. I got last years TT races and plan to get them again this year.

I haven't been there much lately as I got a "deeper underground" website that has some CRAZY fast seed boxes. My 3TB home server is currently at capacity. I don't have any invites everyone so no pm's for them.

What a hoot those races are. And excellent commentary too.

I think the biggest cajones belong to the sidecar monkeys. That just looks like assisted suicide to me.

BTW, if you have ATT Uverse, it is on channel 1102 in HD on Mondays, Tuesdays and Sundays.

Their average speed is WAY faster than any of the tracks on the GP circuit.

Average of 2 deaths per year over the ~100 years of the Isle of Man.
