Tach and Neutral Light Stopped Working

Hi All-

I did a search, but it seems the only questions about tachs not working were on aftermarket parts. Mine is stock. Anyways, on my drive into work this morning, my tach and neutral light stopped working. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered these problems, or has any idea what it may be.

Bike Info:
-2000 M900Sie
-5500 miles
-I changed the battery over the weekend and took it for a short ride. Everything worked fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

check fuses?
check connection behind gauge cluster to see if it's loose?
double check the harness by the battery to make sure nothing was jarred loose or any melted/exposed wiring?

all I can think of right now.
