Removing belts DS1000

no matter how hard i tired last time they couldnt come off. i rode the bike today got it up to temp and dumped it in the garage to cool off and came back 2 hours later( engine still shit hot)

and decided to measure all my valves. then i decide to try and wedge the belts off again, no joy. so i took a peice of single sided mylar (for drawing) put some oil on the slippery side and laid it agains the engine, and used it as a shim to get the old belt off. came out like a charm, just a little bit of wedging. used the same technique to  get the new belts on.

hope this helps anyone who has a hard time taking it off.

HeMan, I'm shopping for new belts for my bike.  Where did you get your belts?

I ask this because you didn't mention it, but did you loosen the tensioners?

of course. the belt would of been stuck on the pully otherwise. :P

CA-cycleworks. Priority mail 2 day shipping from CA-NYC. also i think most people wouldnt need to do this, there is a crevaice for you to slip the belt out. my bike is just full of shit sticking grime that bite onto the belt. but fo those who cant get it off, try this.
