After hitting a pothole back in May, I needed my dealer to order me a new front wheel for my 696.  The wheel was back-ordered, so they took a wheel and tire off a 696 that had been on the Ducati Demo Ride, and put in on my 696.  About a week and a half later, the new wheel arrived.  They were in no hurry to swap wheels, so I have continued to ride on the used wheel.  It has been about three weeks since the dealership received the new wheel.  The service manager calls me today and tells me that Ducati has switched wheel manufacturers, and that the paint finish on this new wheel will not match my back stock wheel, and that they cannot order a wheel that will match my stock back wheel.   He says I can buy the used rim (which came to me with a chip out of it) but that the price will be very close to what I would be paying for the new rim ($1500 CAN).   Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Jebus... for A bit more you could get a set of lighter aftermarket wheels - both of em!  Talk to Motowheels about what they have that would fit a 696...

As far as swapping manufacturers... I don't know about that.  What's stamped on your current wheel?  And can your dealer illuminate you to who is the new guy?

And FWIW, when it comes to wheels Marchesini = Brembo.  The latter owns the former.

The used wheel is a Marchesisni wheel.  I will have to find out who the new manufacturer is if there indeed is one.

I knew Marchesini was owned by Brembo as I happened to notice that on the Marchesini website.

What do you feel would be a fair price for this used rim?  It came to me with a chip out of the paint.

+1 to Motowheels.

For roughly $200 more, you could have either a set of Carrozzeria's or a set of ITX's.  Both are Forged AL.  Way better.

You're right.  My bad.  Somehow missed the "CAN" part.

Do you think the dealer is trying to scam me?  I don't feel I am responsible for the wheel they ordered, as it does not match my bike.

If the used rim is in good shape other than a paint chip or two, what would you suggest as a fair price for it?

Given the size of your rotors, you might not be able to even tell.....

you know i would check with another dealer and make sure the part truly was superceded. sounds more like they ordered the wrong part.

Another option: take the used wheel, but ask for a bigger discount.  Use the money saved to get both wheels powder-coated in the color of your choice.

What would be a fair price for a year old wheel with couple of paint chips?

well ya kinda have to admit it was cool of them to let you use the wheel in the first place while they ordered another. and a single chip? again i would call another dealer and get a price quote on a new wheel and apply a discount on that.
