Also, always a good idea not to pass anywhere near an intersection of any kind....

I hate to hear of anyone dying , let alone on the highway, and especially on a bike.

Don't know what got in Bruce's' head to pass the trailer under circumstances listed.

I can only surmise that he grew impatient and started to pass just as the guy pulling the trailer decided to turn and you know Harleys aren't that fast so he may have just got clipped. No helmet , don't get me started.

Sounds like the World lost one of the " Good Guys."  RIP Bruce.

On a side note . One of the things I like about my " R " . With all of it's quickness, it can get you into trouble .....but it can also get you away from trouble real fast.

It's illegal to pass within 100 plus? feet of an intersection.  Peeps around where I live pass IN the intersection.

I have always rolled off the throttle (car or bike) when approaching an intersection and have taught my children the same.

Im in the same area as you and I have noticed the excessive passing IN the intersections.  I have also noticed an over-abundance of running red lights WAY too late.  I roll of the throttle going in and roll on it leaving the intersections.

He was definitely one of the "good guys". Very well known in Florida and well repected. He was the last in a pack of riders that had passed before him. He died doing what he loved the way he loved to do it. I wasn't going to post here because of the usual gear rant that dominates this thread instead of the proper remembrance of a great man. But Dolph expressed it best, we are all frustrated with the situation. He will be known as a very charitable man and a person that did much for the riding community, not a guy that died doing a stupid thing while not wearing gear.

+1

Around here a lot of folks like to use the right-hand turn lanes as passing lanes as well. An intersection near me has claimed several lives due to the stupidity of others who can't be bothered to slow down for ten seconds for someone turning left.  >:(
