people need to take the time to make sure they hook their trailers up properly, including tail lights and indicators...

The truck driver, Robert L. VanValkenburg, 73, of Rock Springs, Wy., slowed down and began making a left turn and Rossmeyer tried to pass him when they collided, the highway patrol said. Rossmeyer was not wearing a helmet and VanValkenburg's turn signals and brake lights were working at the time of the crash, the report said.

RIP but it sounds like Rossmeyer was at fault.

Sounds like he made the wrong move and paid the price for it!

Terrible, but probably easily avoidable.

Hate it happened and it could happen to any of us.  I've been wondering if my number's coming up.

When I do get my ticket punched I'll probably have a helmet on.

Here is a link to the actual police release, what it does not mention is that this stretch of road is a no passing zone, marked double solid yellow (per a member of a different forum who lives locally and is know to me)

Wow, I read the post and couldn't believe how close the story was to Click Baldwin's accident last year on his way to Sturgis.  Click was the owner of Carolina Harley Davidson.  Maybe not as well known as Rossmeyer, but a pretty popular guy around here.  Same accident scenerio with car turning left, rider trying to pass, no helmet.  Click's helmet was actually hanging on his handlebars when he wrecked.

I hate to hear of anyone getting killed on a bike, even if it is from a careless decision(s) on their part.
RIP

That is a total bummer, but a recent post listed the hardest thing to do when riding. "pay attention". We have to expect the worst  and prepare accordingly. R.I.P.

So sad, a simple error in not paying attention and he is gone. The question that may haunt his family is if he had gear is he just in the hospital giving nurses a hard time?
