RIP Pure Ducati Fort Lauderdale

My local Ducati shop, Pure Ducati/Triumph closed their doors
for good last Saturday. I for one am pissed because the closest
dealer is now about 40 miles away in West Miami. They
were also pretty decent folks too, not the cheapest, but they
smiled when they did it. Hannah especially was great and I
hope she and the whole shop all find work soon. It sucks out
there.   
Keep your local shop alive, go buy something, or they may not
be there when you need em'

Anybody from S FL have suggestions on a qualified shop ?

I do all of my own regular work but the new bikes DP ECU needs a fine tune and I was planning on contacting Lucho next week now that everything else is sorted out

I've lived full or part-time in Ft. Lauderdale for the last 25 yrs. and bought my first Ducati in 1988 at Action Sport Cycles when it was in Oakland Park. Great bunch of guys. They apparently moved to Sunrise Blvd. at some point. Last time I went by it, the shop was closed but still there. There are plenty of references to it on the web, but don't know whether they are currently in operation. Might be worth cruising by, tho.
Pure Ducati was the place on Federal just south of 17th St. ? Never went in, but they had some very cool looking bikes in there. You'd think Ducati would do well in Ft. Lauderdale, but its almost all cruisers trollin' up and down A1A. Well, good luck -

Try Chris at Moto Corse in Ft. Lauderdale. He has done several things for me and I have been very pleased.
He is now my go to guy for all non warranty work. Hopefully someone will pick up the line soon.

sorry for your loss. I NEVER leave my local shop empty handed. I bought my niece a hat last time I was in there because there was nothing I needed (except a gt 1000). Keep em afloat!

Way back I used to ride a Ducati around the Redneck Riviera.  When I consider what I think Ducatis are for, not looking at, I can't  believe you could even sell em in the flat lands.  Hogs? Well hell yea.

dare i say Ducati's model for more manufacturer profit is killing business for the dealers?

seems that less bikes are being sold at a lower price point/margin so that means less foot traffic, less extras less service, less everything. you make one or two great big sales on 1198s but they are few and far between.

the monster was the financial savior of Ducati in the 90s but with only one model barely below 10k they are losing the boat on sales.

i'm sure a dealer could tell me the real deal, but that's just my opinion.

have at least 4 bikes below 10k and Ducati would be selling more and more dealers could survive.

That sucks. Those guys were always very helpful. +1 on Hannah as well. I'm stuck with Ducati Miami as well.

As someone who worked for a dealer that went out of business, I can tell you the majority of Ducati Dealers are doing it tough (I speak about Australian delaers) Ducati dealers in Australia run such tight margins, most people assume that being a Ducati dealer is a license to print money, trust me it's not. (The dealership I worked for, was also poorly managed and maintained and some other factors were involved, but being on the inside, I got to see the in's and out's of the business, and just how little money came from the Ducati side of the business)

They restrict how much you can charge for service and parts.
You are not allowed to discount the bikes, even older models or demo stock is very tightly restricted on how much discount you can offer. we had models on the floor from 06, and we were still told not to discount them! Even the 696 is not moving out the door as fast as they want, The Japanese bikes are very good competition in the segment, and are on average 2 to 3 thousand dollars cheaper.

Case in Point, since the dealership here in town closed, no other dealer wants it, they all know, it's a lot of work, for very little money, you have to carry a large number of bikes and spares, you have to have a $15000 DDS (which you have to buy, but you don't own!!)
I know of at least 2 small Motorcycles shops who a couple of years ago would have given a ball or 2 to have Ducati, even they have said, No thanks, to much hassle, for the return.

Got ya beat, nearest is 400 Km's away, and they Suck!
So to be realistic, I would now have to go nearly 1000Km's for my nearest decent dealer

Pure was a cool place the Duc's had their own room in the shop.  The closest shop now is Ducati Miami and they suck.  I hope they hear me cause i went for an oil filter and let me tell you it should never take 30 minutes to get me an oil filter.  The horror stories i have heard about that place makes me want to buy a truck and drive my bike 4 states over and it takes 8  hours just to get out of S. Florida.  I guess the Sponsors  to the left are getting my money from now on.  I heard good things about Chris at Moto Corse so he may do the repairs i can't.

I heard about Pure closing down at the bike night last week. I actually liked those guys. Ducati Miami can suck my nut sack. Chris did my exhaust/dyno tune and I was very happy witht them. He got it all done within a week at a very reasonable price.

Sorry dude, I live in Boca, so a drive down to Miami Beach is probably not in the cards. My bike has been out of warranty for a while so I do most of the work or take it to Chris. My preferred dealer going forward will be Daytona.
