1100 servo removal?

Hi all, I'm looking at going with a custom exhaust setup that may possibly eliminate the servo on the stock setup.  Are there any reprecussions to removing the servo?

No problems. My full termis doesn't have it.

Your full Termi kit also has the DP ECU

without it you will generate an ECU fault and have funny lights and messages on your dash

the stock ecu is setup to use the servo to produce more mid and low end torque at least that is what i've read.

seems like removing it without changing to the DP ECU for the full termi pipes (not slipons) would create a condition that isn't optimal for power, let alone the computer faults.

Please note that the servo ONLY operates in neutral.. It does NOT work in gear. It is ONLY for noise emissions and does NOT effect performance in any way. We have tested this on the dyno.

You cannot remove it without fitting a different ECU, as not only does it engage the fault code, but puts the ecu into a "safe" mode to protect from damage.

You CAN however fit a little piece like Leo Vince sells that that limits the acuation of the servo and tricks it into thinking it still has the butterfly attached.

Just remove the cables that attaches to the exhaust and leave the servo plugged in.  I did this to my Hyper and so far so good.

My ECU light came on when I disconnected the servo, all you have to do is plug it back and the light will go off.  FYI I have the Silmoto slip on's and have put on 400 miles

Hopefully nothing happens when the valve is gone.  We're going to throw it on the dyno just to be sure.

Now I'm wondering what I'm going to do if I get a set of Boom Tubes.

Yesterday I tested on the M1100 for the first time the "D-Flapper" (anyone have a cooler sounding name for it?) solidstate electronic device. (Remove the actuator/servo and this replaces it completely and is the size of a small box of matches)  Worked like a charm.  I will test on a few other of the new ECU enabled Ducati's this upcoming week.  We still will to do some more testing of the device before releasing to the general public and then will "standardize" and make a production run of them.  It should be ready about the time that BoomTubes ship to customers for delivery or within a few weeks after at most. 

(note: we are doing a new M1100 undertray / fender eliminator / license bracket without this clunky device mounted as part of the new carbonfiber bodywork we are doing for the M1100 -- none of it is an exact duplicate of Ducati's -- I will admit to making small changes to make it better! And of course making items nobody except myself would fathom creating...)

We are doing a D-Flapper for the Hypermotard and other older ECU Ducati's as well. 

All I can say is that I really hate that stupid actuator/servo device -- what a rube goldberg device and clunky at best.

note: we are doing some other electronic devices to "assist" the ECU in regard to exhaust system changes as well -- more later.
