I'm starting to get a complex.  For some reason whenever I ride I seem to attract the most idiotic drivers in town.  As if people on phones trying to lane chane on top of me and people pulling out in front of me were not enough, I had some dude in front of me tonight toking away on a big fatty.  No kidding, I am driving behind a couple of car about 35 mph and I am just about to get a contact buzz from some dude smoking a bit of grass.  If I can smell this on a bike 3 car lengths back, I think there is a prob.  I decided it was time to come home since all the amateur's were out.  So much for a nice relaxing ride.   Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry

I know precisely what you mean.

Unfortunately, I haven't ridden to work in teh last two months due to two strategic areas of road construction.  One is a main thoroughfare near an east-west highway, and another is a southbound exit ramp when returning onto that hghway, which usually makes for a relaxing ride home.

Anyway, since I'm in withdrawl, I wanted to go for a quick ride after work last Wednesday.  I'm riding 40-45 up that thoroughfare road, and I'm getting challenged to drag race some gold-chainer in a '69 Vette with a blower hanging out of the hood.  The traffic was going an easy 5 under the speed limit, and it was thick enough that I couldn't get an easy path through it.  This was at 8PM.

This morning, I wake up early, and leave an EASY 1 1/2 hours before I usually do to beat the traffic and enjoy a ride in.  I'm not more than 1/4 mile in, the bike is still warming up, so I'm coming up slow to a red light or a four lane road.  I'm the first one coming up to the light, in the second lane from the left.  No cars on either side of me.  I know there's traffic coming up from behind, but the light is red, and I'm coasting to it, waiting for it to flash green, and I can accellerate.  75 feet from the white pedestrian strip, a white Buick Enclave comes out of the left lane, and GOES INTO MY LANE.  No other traffic in ANY lane yet, but he felt the need to cut my lane, and cut my braking distance out.  WTF?

I know I'm way way more aware of drivers not paying attention when I'm on a bike, but seriously, where do these make the beast with two backsers learn to drive?  Do they have a class that teaches how to drive only for your own convenience, cut people off, and ignore common courtesy?

I have no idea.  That's why I just ride out to the country on weekends. . . .

Its not you...its the sheer number of morons out there...
Today I had to break hard TWICE to avoid crashing in cars that turned into my line without even bothering.
The Nautilus helps, but only to remind them how much of an ahole they actually are...
But I blame it one the sun and heat right now..
Was happy to get home and into swim shorts... drink

Damn, you guys need to see the chronic lack of Driving skills here where I live, I have driven in a lot of different places in my time, and nothing beats the Mouth breathing Idiots here in Cairns, The Police focus just about all the enforcement on Speed, and nothing else!!!
People run Red lights, if the Red light takes to long, people get bored and will drive off through the red light, The highway speed limit is 100KPH, people drive at 80KPH and they block everyone else because they think everyone is driving to fast, People very rarely look before changing lanes, Illegal U turns, Vehicles that should have been pulled from the road years ago because of defects, people ignoring "one way" and "No right turn" signs, and on and on it goes  bang head

It's sad to say, but nothing really shocks me anymore, I have just about seen it all, and yet the Politicians still keep saying that Speed is the biggest killer on our roads! they have put more speed Cameras on our roads, Cops with Radars, and yet we will have the highest Death toll in the region since records started being kept!  Shocked

That's why when I want to have fun on the local Mountain ranges, I get up at 4am on Saturday or Sunday, go and have my fun for a couple of hours, then just as the Retards start to wake up and start appearing on the road, I'm already at or near home.

And don't get me started on the bloody Tourists..... Angry
