I will save Skynet from Sarah Connor

« on: August 09, 2009, 11:20:02 AM »

I got in a solid 100 miles on the SMR this afternoon.

It is humid as all get out, and 88*

I wear full leathers with no vents (black of course), black full face HJC, black A* SMX+, black Held Phantoms (get these gloves if you're in the market, they're worth the cost)

This ride served 2 purposes:

- Test out new suspension settings
- Get it out of my system.  I haven't been out in about 2 weeks.  You can imagine what sort of ride this was.

A couple things I feel like pointing out:

- On mega hot humid days like this, remember to drink fluid.  Something quality, and not Coke from the gas station.  Stick with water or gatorade.  ie, something that helps you hydrate vs something that makes you shed water (ie cola)

- Rest once in a while.  Pull off as much of your gear as you can and cool off.  Not only will you be more comfortable, your senses will be sharper as will your judgment.

- On mega hot humid days like this, metabolisms slow (i think) to help you stay cool through inactivity.  When Im out riding and Im hot, or getting too hot, i start to zone out.  Even though I don't want too, it happens and I have to work to stay sharp.

This also goes for other drivers sharing the road with you.  Often times they, also, are too hot and are in that relaxed state where they're on auto pilot.  This makes it even HARDER for them to not kill you.

Stay safe.  Stay sharp.  I haven't seen too many threads on boards this year that start with "RIP _______________**insert forum member here**"

Lets keep it that way.

That is all.  Now back to your regularly scheduled DMF brainwashing session. . .

I commute in northwest Florida. It is a constant battle to keep my head in the game. There are some days where I will take the car because it really is just to muggy to concentrate.

BRAIIINSSS!!!!!!

+1 on staying hydrated. remember water today for tommorrow. the night before a ride, eat something with salts and take in some water.  you wont as thirsty the next day.

Now if i can only figure out how to not doze off while im super slabbing there, that would be great....
