Pet pole

I saw this attached to an article linked from BPs pet tax deduction article.   For me this doesn't reflect what I spend on my cat.  I would say I get him average supplies, but it still cost much more than what they list for a cat.  Is it just my spending, neck of the woods, or is this totally inaccurate?

We have cats and rabbits(As far as the chart's concerned, anyway.) and we do spend more, but not a huge amount more.
Some of the entries gave me a good laugh.
Like this one:
     Rabbit litter - $415/year.
How much do they think a subscription to the local newspaper costs?

My 2 dogs cost more...mainly in the food dept. They get good food, not some shit Costco brand or something.

...and a tax deduction for pets is stupid. It'll encourage more people to get pets just for the $$...then they'll neglect them. Besides...it's just stupid.

Health Insurance?

Setup cost?  I probably spend about $250/yr on my medium size mutt. Adoption (from SPCA) was about $100.

But y'know what?  Can we just add a pet bill of rights to the Constitution and be over with it?  I am tired of being proselytized by the Cult of the Pet.  I give up.
