Hey everyone,

I'm trying to secure a password field in an ACCESS table. I've set the input mask to be a password, however as an administration how does one gain access to passwords protected by the input mask?

Thanks!

The input mask should just show up on the forms and not in the table try to put the input mask in the form field and see if it shows up in the table as just the password.

I just tested it out and that is the case.

Put the input mask on the form. The password will be visible in the table if the table column is set to text without an input mask.

Interesting, that was the first thing that I did and was unable to view the PW in the table.....

I just tried it on a blank database and it worked fine.

that is really odd.

I figured it out this morning while retracing my steps/attempts from yesterday. Essentially I had done what you had suggested before I posted the question, but I had set the input mask to "password" on the table not realizing that the field in the form would have to be set independantly.

It was sort of a Homer "d'Oh!" this morning when I realized it. Sometimes you just can't see the forest through the trees!!

Thanks for the help!

Dave.

glad I could help you out.

I suspected you made a "mistake" while doing the input and after re-tracing a few times, you picked up the error.

I do it all the time too.
