My doc just put me on this for my ADHD issues (if you've met me, you'd probably agree I am a little high strung)

anyone on this one or have tried it?

thoughts?

It is a non-stimulant, which is why I chose to go this method first.

you will lose weight if you stay on it and it might make you feel hypertensive and have headaches.

helped me pass the bar!  :D

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

I read that was one of the side effects and the doctor informed me about the possibilities of headaches.

Hyptertensive I am guessing refers to blood pressure, correct?

He didn't list that as one of the issues like it is with the stimulant ones.

How long did it take for it to kick in for you? He said 4-6wks.

I'd like to continue my education and I need to get this issue under control before studying for the LSAT.

Depending on your diet, you may want to increase your fiber. People I have known on it have complained of constipation...

when I was in 6th grade, they put me on some type of ADD meds.

I don't remember what it was, but it drove me litterally crazy. I was going nuts and breaking stuff, couldn't sleep, got so fustrated with math work I threw the book at the wall in the middle of class,  just insane, they took me off it when I started peeling the skin off my fingers...  :o I was only on that crap about 2 weeks.

I don't remember what it was, but it was BAD stuff, it didn't even make the ADD better, just added a weird level of insanity to it..

this was back in the 90's when ADD was what they diagnosed every kid who didnt get good grades with, and they were for the most part experimenting with these drugs.. I'm sure there better today.. but still, be careful.

that would've been ritalin/methylphenidate (aka "the good stuff"  [evil])

no, it was a different kind. I wanna say it started with a "a" but I can't remember.

but they wanted to try ritalin next. my parents were like.. nope...

I don't know if I have it or not.. I know I wonder away from stuff I'm supposed to be doing alot... like now, I'm supposed to be pulling out a trans.  [laugh]

I ended up using a timer that ticked loudly when doing my home work to help keep me on track. It more or less worked.

adderall?

if so, it's odd that they'd try that first... adderal is usually given to people when ritalin is ineffective.

My friend was on the wrestling team in HS.  He would go off his meds (not sure which), a day or so before a big match.  He would smoke a cigarette outside the gym then break one of his opponents limbs....happened 2 or 3 times.  He was a nutbag!

That's what my psychiatrist was telling me.

They prefer to start on non-stimulants and if those don't work, move up to lower level stimulant types with reduced levels of amfetamines, which are HIGHLY addictive. Adderall, I believe, is one of the highest stimulant meds out there.

And yeah........if it doesn't set your chemicals straight.........bad bad things can happen.

Not to mention with the use of amfetamine drugs, your risk of stroke greatly increases, along with other heart conditions.
