I was a little disappointed he didn't chop off his own fingers, remove his teeth and then kill himself by suffocating inside a suitcase tossed in a dumpster.

And why don't these people just commit suicide first?
Wouldn't that be better for everyone involved?

Of course, to replicate the murder he would have had to strangle himself first, which makes all those subsequent steps quite challenging.

If people had the ability to think things through in the first place, hardly any killing (of others or of self) would be happening. Thus, another replay of the old idiotic pattern.

here's a scary thought

this guy thought that by removing the teeth and the fingers it would make it more difficult/impossible to ID the victim.
now that the news is out that she was ID'd by serial number on her implants, does it mean that
the next crazy SOB will remove those as well?

Implants have been used to ID victims for a while now. This is not the first case, and sadly, will not be the last.

Correct, but what I think he's getting at is that they don't usually publicize that they used the implant serial numbers to ID her...

We don't really know what he thought, 'cause he's dead. Perhaps.

It turns out, though, that criminals aren't very smart and usually screw up, especially when they're under the stress of committing a major crime.

These days a relatively fresh body of someone known to be missing isn't very likely to go unidentified. I'll bet you money that investigators had a very good idea of whose body they'd found and used the serial numbers for confirmation rather than initial identification.
