I just added the part number for the 4 position boot. I'm placing an order for a couple of 4 position assemblies for the headlight.  Word of warning - TYCO has made this line obsolete and Online Components has LONG backorders for some pieces like the male posts.  Luckily I don't need any of those.

<Edit>
CRAP!  I just went to check out and Online Components requires a $35 minimum order.  Currently, for 2 4 plugs and all the components (in case I screw up the first time) my total is $11.  Anybody need some connectors?  I'll take a tour of the bike later and see if I could use those connectors anywhere else.

I checked first with the board member and he has them, but won't have access to them until middle of December because of a move......

I could use a few bits and bobs. Being just down the street would make for any easy group buy. Let me know or maybe start a group buy thread?

I'd be happy to order whatever you need or start a group buy thread.  When I went to check out, I noticed that they were out of the 4 position boot and it will take like 8 weeks to backorder.

Where would one start a group buy thread?

More and more I want to re-route some wiring.

How many different gauges of wire are there?  I have a wire cutting tool that appears to have gauge measuring holes.  But I'm not sure that's what they are...   ???

Most of the wiring on a Duc is 16 ga. The stuff for the ecu is lighter, but I'm not sure by how much.

Thanks DP.

Does anyone know what wire type/amp rating?

Herm... of course the 4 is out.  I was thinking of that for headlight work... But there's some other stuff.

A thread might be over kill - since it seems any of the interested players have already piped up in here.  Maybe we just trade some email/pms?

When you say male posts do you mean the actual crimps of the male end of the plug?  The male crimps/internals are kind of important if you are redoing your harness.

Then again, if you've come up with a better solution, please let me know.  Since I've got to shorten both ends, I don't mind going to a entirely different connector, as long as it's as good as the oem stuff (NOT weatherpack crap, etc).

These things are ala carte; each component part is sold separately.  The male posts are the actual male crimps that then get assembled into the plastic body with various other seals.

I'm not redoing my harness - yet.  After pulling the headlight and dropping the gauges I would sure love to get rid of some of that mess.  I'm just looking for the female side of the headlight plug.  If I could find a junked headlight or pigtail, I would be just as happy as I could just graft that into the headlight I have.

I was planning to got through RB's entire list and post prices and availability, but it has been a busy day.

I may have a pigtail for you, I've got a few harnesses laying around that I've pulled connectors from.   [thumbsup]

Formatting is kinda effed - sorry.  Turns out they do have the male contacts in "strip" format.  From TYCO that means "Strip mounted on a metal carrier and shipped on a reel for use with semi-automatic application tooling." I added it to my cart and it allowed me to add just one, not a whole roll, but who knows.

If TAftonomos can provide a pigtail, I don't need to order anything.  Otherwise, I'm in.....

When i ordered my plug contacts, i ordered the strip. They will work in regular crimps once you remove them from the strip. I actually like ordering the strip, because they aren't loose and less prone to get lost.

How many pieces are on each strip?
