Looking to totally black out (or as much as I can) my 696, get it looking like a Dark Knight Ducati.

For those that have started painting theirs, am curious what is the consensus of what is being used and painted.

Figuring to powder coat my rearsets.  Think the exhaust hangers have to be painted, especially that I'll be getting her back with Termi CFs soon.  Would like to have the ends of the Termi cans that aren't CF painted black, but not sure which route to go with that.  Would like to paint the lower headlight fairing, and thinking I can just remove it and apply couple of layers of matte black spray paint on it.

Thinking of getting my pipes wrapped as well.  Something that is recommended or not?

Suggestions?  Opinions?

there are four ways people have been blacking out the 696 parts

powdercoating, paint, ceramic and vinyl. there is also anodizing, but i heard that turns purple.

i personally painted the headlight frame, exhaust hangers and shields. each got chipped over time from bugs, rocks, or my spider strap on the bike.

if you do a good search on the site you'll find all the parts people have done so far. but a short list to do could be...
exhaust shields, headlight bracket, top triple, handlebar (more replaced than colored), forks, rearsets, exhaust cans (including termi ends), brake calipers, kickstand holder, rear spring, exhaust pipes...

Thanks Raux.

I know mostly which ones have been painted, more curious to know what techniques/type owners chose and if they did it themselves, how'd they do it.

i really would just do a search.

everyone who's done the work has either done a workup on the methods or where they got the work done.

but let me have a go.

For powdercoating you'll need to find a shop that can do it. if you take everything at once it will be cheaper
exhaust shields, headlight bracket, top triple, rearsets, kickstand holder, rear spring

For ceramic coating HPC coatings seems to be the premier choice
exhaust cans (including termi ends), exhaust pipes.

Vinyl wrapping of forks seems to be the norm but some have powdercoated (issues with cracking when clamping triple clamps are a concern)

For handlebars... well i've only seen replacing

and for brake calipers you can get the paint kits from autozone
