had the same problem, i then redid my bracket and moved the top of the plate out to the end of the light and have not hit it ever since.  Also improves its functionality as a mud guard.

Until I saw the beer tray on the most recent BOMb http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php I thought the only reason not to do a tail chop was because of the minor legal inconveniences.  Tailchops look BADASS.
