I have a 07 S2r 1k with termis, DP ECU, and open lid with K&n. Yesterday i came back from a short ride and shut it off. When i tryed to start it back up, she sputtered and tried to start but didnt. i turned off the key and gave it a few seconds and tryed to start it again and a still nothing. So i left it cool down for about an hour and tryed again still nothing. i start giving it a once over making sure there was no conectors loose, everything checked out. then Pull the Plugs and they where Carboned up and wet. I knew from that it was flooded and the plugs filed. so i took a wire brush to them and reinstalled and it fired up. My Question for the board is what caused this? and how i can prevent it.  Is it my driving style, the Tune on the DP ECU or something else.

The DP ECU's are PIG rich! Short rides, low rpm and not reaching full operating temp can def cause this. Did you have the dealer set the CO? You might want to have them dial it back a bit.... Or you could add a PCIII and dyno it for perfect results!!  [thumbsup]

This may be stupid advice but here goes.  I have a relatively heavily modified Audi S4 - on my current turbo and ECU set-up i find that if i drive the car easy and shut it off it starts really hard.  If i rev the engine once or twice (say 4k to 5k rpms) before shutting off, starts without a hitch.

The car seems to run rich at low speed (too keep it from leaning out at redline) - my theory on revving is that it 'cleans' any extra gas out of the cylinder.

Would welcome some one to tell me this is ridiculous, but it does seem to work.

That may be true for your 4V, but it was not the case for my 2007 S2R1K.  Even with the DP ECU, the dyno testing showed that it was still overall a bit lean.

I believe that there is a mechanism to richen-up the mixture for cold starts (stepper motor?).  If that mechanism gets stuck in the cold start mode, it would run rich after it has warmed up.

I'm assuming that you had the DP ECU installed by your dealer, and that they reset the TPS and CO.  If not, that may also be your problem.

2000 996XU (extra ugly) for track days - BST carbon wheels, Ohlins shock, reworked fork, FBF exhaust, and a bunch of megacycle rocker arms. The rest of it is junk - Hey, I'm just happy that it runs...

Wow, you are the first one to say they have a DP ECU that is running lean, that I have heard of.

CO is set at the dealer after installation.  They come rich or lean from the factory.  The CO adjustment adds or subtracts fuel throughout the whole range.  If you want better you need a PC.

Mine did not have enough adjustment range to get rid of the lean condition. The dyno results were posted on TOB.  I ended up adding a PCIII.  I think that there is a lot of variation with the DP ECUs.

Yes the ECU was installed by a dealer about 2 years ago by the previous owner. so its probably in need of a Trim adjustment. thanks everyone for your advice and help.

Sorry - way off topic - why would you have to heavily modify a S4? Wait - I know - because you can.
That doesn't explain why you would ever drive it easy ...
Saab Trionic (T5/T7) runs a plug cleaning routine on shutdown, perhaps to combat that very situation.

the 2.7t S4 are a big modding platform.  heck with just off the shelf K04 turbos and tuning you can get well over 400hp and close to 500 ft/lbs of torque.  with a little more work and some weight reduction you have a street legal car that will run pretty much anything and still be good for taking your wife to dinner and kids to school.  Best of all, its a wagon [thumbsup]
