shift lever sticks...

Hey guys, my 99 monster 900 has a quirk. On down shifts the lever takes a second to spring back up. Its really only noticable upon rapid downshifts. The gear will change but then you feel the lever pop up a tap the bottom of your shoe.   Anyone?

Or the return spring might be getting weak.
