Badlands Metric Flash Pro issue - Solved

I've got a 2000 900 that has LED signals (the pre load box Rizomas), and a rats nest of wiring due to needing resistors.  In the thread above, a flasher relay and resistors were replaced with the Badlands Metric Flash pro.  Since I wanted to ditch the resistors, I picked one up.  Install was easy, but I've got a problem

All 4 signals light up. The 'off-side' is about 60% as bright, much like with my previous relay w/o resistors.  Reinstalling the resistors resolved the 4-way blink issue - but I was hoping to be rid of those resistors.

Anyone have more experience with these Badlands units?
Any of the electrical gurus care to share why all 4 signals light up?
IS it possible I've got a bum unit?

That said, resistors ≠ rat's nest.

Rats nest was over dramatic, but it wasn't as tidy as that.  I'd run the wires for the resistors back behind the side pods where the resistors were strapped to the frame... But still it meant extra junk under my seat that I was trying to tidy...

I dropped an email on Badlands late yesterday (Sunday) evening - hopefully I'll hear something back shortly.

I've heard back, and traded a couple emails with badlands now.  They are thinking that it might be a faulty ground that it the root of my issues... which is not beyond the realm of possibility.  I've got a techy low fuel light, so a bad ground would not surprise me... so now for a tech thread.

You could always pop it on someone else's bike and see if it works.  That would eliminate the unit as the problem.

Hmm that means tracking down a pre-immobilizer bike with an owner will to let me pull out some of the electrical guts of the bike AND install LEDs...

Call Badlands and talk to a tech guy.  Early last year I was going from 4 stock signals on my HD to 2 bar end signals, each serving as both front and rear.  The HD system is digital and integrated with the security system, and I had been told by HD folks that I was asking for trouble in attempting what I was.

The tech guy at Badlands spent plenty of time with me on the phone to ensure I ordered what I needed and the final set up was completely plug&play.

So, give them a call; they're very helpful.

I've traded some email with them and they have made offered up a few possible things for me to try. They though the root cause was a poor ground, and I'm thinking that's on point.  I've had a finicky low fuel light for a while.  The fuel sensor, signals (and a bunch of other stuff) share the same negative lead.

I shared the info with Dan of Badlands and he said it was spot on.  So if you want to use the Badlands relay, a little extra work is needed - but nothing dire.

Also, as a side not - Dan of Badlands was very helpful and responsive to all my questions - A+ customer service.

So I finally got the bike back together and the info linked to above is spot on. The addition of the diodes in the dash resolved the 4-way issue and cost me $1.  It does require you to rewire the signal indicator and to a touch of solder work - but it's simple stuff.
