Old dinosaur rider has new push button, disc brake toy.  Everything strange. 
- I want to remove the pollution control canister. 

#1  What are these vacuum caps (?) I hear mentioned to block off the hose stubs on the intake manifolds?  Where can I find them and what size do I need?  I am not familiar with these items.  Brand and part numbers?

#2  How do I find and access these stubs on the intake manifolds
to block off.

#3  Can I get to remove the hoses and install the caps easily?  - without pulling the tank?

#4  Can the gas tank be removed without removing the side covers?

If you go into an AutoZone or something similar, just ask them where the vacuum caps are and they'll point you in the right direction. I got a kit with several different sizes of caps for like $5 and it has about 100 caps in it.
The caps them selves look like this:

Sorry I dont have answers to your other questions, my canister was removed before I got my bike. I just needed to replace a cap that got dried out and cracked.

There are several how to's and tech threads how to do this, but here is a short how to.

Parts list: Vacuum plugs (get a variety of sizes), Y- or T- tube intersections, tube connectors for different size tubes. Optional-Euro shroud from Motowheels

Basics: Remove canister. T-connect vapor and overflow fuel hoses. plug intake manifold. replace canister shroud with euro shroud. The canister is connected to the bike with the black parts under the frame. There are four tubes connected to it, 1 from each intake manifold, 1 from the fuel tank, and one going under the bike (outlet).
