Texas Tech fires Mike Leach... From what little I know, Leach's ego seems to have been the main problem.

Big Red, way to go (so far)!
For everyone who's been bagging on Texas, here's a thought: Nebraska's pretty good. All it took to fix their offense was a PAC 10 defense.

Actually, a 3rd place Pac 10 defence.  I don't know how they commitees pick these teams.  You have the Big 12 runner up vs. a 3rd place pac 10 team in 1 game.   THen in another, you have a 6th place Big 12 school (Oklahoma) vs the Pac 10 runner up (Stanford).

THe Idaho v BG game was very good.  No defense but plenty of O in the 2nd half.  Gutsy call going for 2 at the end.  Win or bust!!!

Yeah, I don't think you can lock a kid (atleast a college boy) in an elecrical closet.

Yeah, it's generally considered to be poor form to punish a player for having a concussion. The lawsuit between Leach and TTU will be a mess. I'm sure stuff will come out that neither side wants public.

Oh yea baby, the Pac 10 has been looking great this bowl season.   Must be why the Ducks are so confident that they can stop the Bucks and that they will run and pass all over us.  Pretty clear that must Pac 10 teams can't handle a stout defense and a good run game. If I was a Ducks fan I would be worried that they are too cocky and confidant. That usually spells disaster.

I can't freaking wait until tomorrow at 5.  Don't know what the outcome will be but the Rose Bowl is going to be awesome.

That was a PAC 10 team that almost won the conference. Their defense held 6 teams to <20 pts this season. It got rolled by the Huskers last night. That was pure dominance.

. I'll take that as a good way to end the season!  It was kind of hard to settle down and go to sleep afterwards.  Next year should be a good one.

Some quick stats for Arizona last night.

Arizona finished 2nd in the Pac-10 not third.

Arizona had 441 total yards against Oregon they only had 34 last night.

Arizona had 314 passing yards against Oregon they only had  28 last night.

Arizona had 127 rushing yards against Oregon they only had 6 last night.

Not that it matters much, but those were the stats minus the last drive in which they tripled their total output.  I do give AZ credit in that they didn't boot a field goal at the end just to get on the board and take away the shut out.  Other than that, they were absurdly inept and Nebraska might be really good next year if they can keep this offensive improvement.

Funny that Texas Tech was said to be eyeing the UofA offensive coordinator.  Might wanna rethink that one being as Tech was the only team to dominate Nebraska this year.

Wow, didn't even realize that those stats didn't include that last drive but as you say doesn't matter that much.  The Pac-10 went into the bowl season as one of the tougher leagues.  We'll see where it ends up.

Re: Texas Tech vs. Mike Leach.

He evidently had a clause in his contract which entitled him to an $800,000 bonus if he were the coach at the end of the year. By firing him, the University got out of paying the bonus.

I heard someone (Lou Holtz?) say on ESPN that "suing your boss is never a good idea- it never ends well."

It's a bit of a stretch to say they almost won the conference. They have 2 more conference losses than Oregon, and finished in a tie for 3rd...not all that close. Just because they didn't pick up the decisive losses until the latter half of the season doesn't mean anything.

The PAC-10 is weird this year. Teams look dominant one game, then get their asses handed to them the next. Arizona is a great example...they beat Stanford and Oregon State, but then lost to Cal and Washington. No consistency. It'll be very interesting to see how Oregon does against OSU.

The Arizona/Nebraska match up seemed good to me. #22 vs. #20. Nebraska's defense is flat dominant though. There is definitely nothing like that in the PAC-10.

I still think Texas is overrated...but we'll see.

Who just lost to an Unranked OU!  [laugh] I'm loving bowl results so far!!!

I caught glimpses of Oklahoma-Stanford and it seems as if Stanford really struggled on offense in the 2nd half. The QB (Pritchard) never looked in command.

Navy-Missouri was more entertaining, mainly because of the uniqjue Navy offense. I think you will see more teams running the option stuff in the next few seasons: Football is cyclic and it's going to swing back to a run-oriented style again.
