very true. the two parts of the frame cross at the front engine mount and the front part ends at a second cross point. the rear engine mount is attached only to the rear frame. in fact it's almost easier to remove the front part of the frame than the rear.

That depends on what causes the blur.

I'm sorta glad it's ugly as shit...

My girlfriend has a Multi 1000DS.  The first few times I rode it, I loved it (primarily because it wheelies so easily).  I thought that an MTS might be my future touring bike.

Then I took  it on a few longer rides.  I don't like it.  The light front end that makes wheelies so easy does not  lend itself well to superslab riding.

The ugly looks of the water-pumper version make my decision to not get one even easier.   Undecided

I just rode the MTS 1100S. It really did wheelie like a sonofapregnant dog. Still think it would make a GREAT backroads tourer, but even the hypermotard beak is getting close to my "DON'T WANT" limit (but I understand that its supposed to be semi reminiscent of a dirt bike) - the "strada aperta" is zero part dirt bike, and a snorkel crocodile nose ain't helpin'

Was the suspension set up for you?

Mine was not, but with gear on I'm close to 250#, front wheel came right on up. Also, you look silly exiting a 1st gear corner, winding it out, pull in the clutch and stomp down to go to 2nd, and as you bounce off the rev limiter, realize that they don't come from the factory with GP shift.

If the suspension isn't set up right, that may be helping you getting the front up. Don't write it off if you haven't ridden the bike with ok suspension settings. As for GP shift, I'm not sure any bike comes stock with that... Tongue

I test rode a Hyper S once, the suspension was so hard it wasn't funny, riding around the city felt horrible. Obviously the suspension was the issue & could have been adjusted better for me but I can't really get an great feel for a bike with adjustable suspension if the suspension hasn't been set right.

Quote taken from MCN link provided above. I still don't like the snorkels.

These latest exclusive pictures of Ducati’s new 2010 Multistrada show the Italian firm is going straight after sales of BMW’s R1200GS.

The extreme test conducted on a motocross track was spotted by one of MCN’s spy snappers and shows the new 1098-powered Multistrada being endurance tested in Italy.

The bike was getting at least six feet of air over some of the jumps   Shocked although our pictures only got the bike coming down from the highest point.

But it shows Ducati is serious to prove to the world this bike is more than just another tourer that can only handle road riding. The bike will line-up squarely against the BMW R1200GS, the Moto Morini Gran Passo and KTM’s 990 SM-T.

Apart from a slight disguise, the bike appears to be almost finished, suggesting it’s ready for production. Expect the fully-finished version to be unveiled at the Milan motorcycle show in just a few weeks.

Re: Suspension - it was set to soft since I'm a larger mammal, which typically means that it would sink in the rear rather than wheelie, or so my experience with the Monster has been. (Put correct springs on and set sag, and the energy is no longer wasted in over-loading the rear suspension - i squirt forward {and sometimes upwards} a lot better faster now)

I didn't look like this guy, but I can see how it would have been really easy even with stock gearing:

Re: GP - Too bad they don't, its just so easy to use, and less parts to begin with. Damn japanese standardization.
