Anyone know if I can tap into this cable under my 09 M1100 seat to charge my iphone? if not what are your suggestions to charge the iphone when using the gps.

Thanks in advance

Ducatl

I'd guess that there are some kits out there that are akin to the little kits you get with battery trickle chargers that attach to the battery posts.  That seems like it would be the most straightforward method.

Im not sure I understand what you mean, what I wanted to know is would I be able to draw of that plug to to wire in a usb chatger for my phone?  :)

Howie

From the photo it looks like your diagnostic connector, I would not use it.  If you have a lead for a battery tender you could use that, or you can install a battery tender lead as suggested by Ducatl.  You coul also probably tap into another circuit.  I don't know what your I Phone draws to charge, but my phone only draws about about a half an amp.  Where did you tap in for the GPS?

howie, I have not yet tapped in for a gps, the gps is on the iphone that  want to charge, what is a battery tender lead?

Thanks

Ok, so what I now know is that I can get a sae to cigarette cable web link: http://www.powerletproducts.com/product/sae-to-cigarette-socket-cables/319

This will allow me to plug in my normal Iphone car charger and charge it. BUT where is the tender cable on the 2009 M1100. I have searched my owners manual, searched the bike using a bright torch and I cannot find it. Can anyone help with its location please?

Thanks

Demoni

You want one of these to connect to the battery and then an adaptor to be able to plug an cigarette socket phone charger into.

I have there products on all my bikes and it makes mixing and matching connections/ navigation gear from bike to bike a snap.

Thanks Demoni, I thought that the bikes come with a "Battery tender cable"? My owners manual says "Your motorcycle is equipped with a connector to which you can connect a special battery charger available from our sales network" Im assuming they are talking about the battery tender/sae cable.

Can anyone confirm if this is correct?

Thanks

Howie

Weird that the manual doesn't tell you where it is.  Look for a cable like the one in Demoni's post.  If you can't find it give your dealer a call.  There has been a post or two where 696 folks were shocked to find it.

the dealers usually install the battery tender leads as they prep the bike for delivery. it normally doesn't come from the factory that way. If you don't see additional connectors attached to your battery other than the + and - cables from the wiring harness, you don't have a battery tender lead.

I got one of these kits from Powerlet.  Works for all sorts of accessories as well as plugging a battery tender right in.
