I haven't ridden the 696 but I have ridden the Speedy (my brothers) right after my S4RS and I have to say the Triumph feels more "refined" than mine as far as the suspension, throttle and brakes go.  Both are really nice rides and I don't see how you could go wrong with either one.  Have fun picking......oh, here is a pic of my brothers Speedy (me in the background) on a recent ride.

That is a sharp looking bike!  I wish I had a Triumph dealer here.

Insurance will be replacing my stolen 696,

Problem is that I can get a new off the floor 08 Triumph 1050 Speed Triple for 900 dollars less than a 09 new 696 Monster.

What would you do, and if I go with what my head tells me, will I still be welcome on the DMF ;D

seems like a test ride of a couple bikes is called for but that new 2008 might not be demoable so take another TR demo they have
,ride the M1100 and a streetfighter while your comparing.
If it's an insurance check they might finance the difference if you do go bigger!

Do not want to finance for more and test rode a 08 1050 already [thumbsup]
