Why does nobody make triple clamps out of titanium? Is it somehow not a suitable material for this purpose? That would be kind of badass. Ti shavings are explosive but there are special coolant heads for this.

Factory racebikes had, for years, magnesium triple clamps.

I know about magnesium triples, just never heard of any made of Ti. Seems like a good material to make a triple tree out of.

Aren't most TI applications welded up out of sheet and/or tube? I don't recall TI castings or machined from billet TI components? Could be completely out in left field; just can't think of any at the moment.

Because Ti is overkill in this application. Its too heavy compared with billet aluminum (which is what most triple clamps are made of). No need for the extra strength.

Yeah but can't the triple be skeletonized to death with a material like Ti, CNC machined and finite-element analyzed to engineer something with the same strength but less weight? Hard to believe that Ti is heavier than billet Al.

If there was a reason to make one out of Ti. NCR would have done it with this bike.

Well they skeletonize the same part made out billet aluminum (Cycle Cat as an example). And yes, titanium is heavier than billet aluminum, though one could use less material arguably to make the part, but the rigidity and weight savings achieved by using the billet gets the job done, for a substantially lower price.
