Mladin seems to have an aloof confidence that turns some people off. Me included. But he's a damn good rider and I admire the fact that he is absolutely adamant about rider safety. That he'd be willing to sit out a race at a track rather than compromise that commitment is more than most people would do.

check out mladin on twitter.. or the last OTT interview.  his 'ego' was race face.

"the mat mladin that came to the track and wanted to kill everyone in sight, he's not here anymore."

granted he's a supremely no-BS (...er, Austrailian?) kind of guy but the not-competitive side of him seems to be someone you'd want to have a beer with.

AHHH...but in the world? or in his mind?...or perhaps his mind is his own world given the size of his ego....not saying whether it is deserved or not...just sayin...
I'm not arguing with that thought.

Agostini is a quirky case.  Much of his success is, to the best of my knowledge, attributable to the bike he rode rather than the race victories he clawed out through superior riding.

The video of Ludington going off on Page is pretty instructive too.

At 0:12:  "You don't hold your line, you get the make the beast with two backs out of the way!"

Al Ludington Confrontation

Quote
"Section 7: Race Rules And Procedures 7.14 Flags / Lights vii. Blue Flag: Indicates to a rider that they are about to be overtaken. Riders are advised to keep their line and allow the faster rider to pass. Riders disregarding this flag may be blackflagged at the discretion of AMA Pro Racing."

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the air—these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Completely incredulous. I hadn't seen the video of Mladin after Laguna, but I gotta say, I think I like him better now for actually calling it like it was.

Mladin's comments crack me up!

"...could have been very ugly..  i'm not sure what it's gonna take to make these people realize we shouldn't have a pace car in motorcycle racing.  we don't have radio communication.. we can't see lights like when you're sitting down having a cup of tea NASCAR racing... " rofl
