Hey guys,

I'm looking to invest in a 2V 900 Ducati to take to the track. Since it will be my first track bike, I'm not looking to pay a lot for a showroom-pristine beauty. I plan on doing some motor and brake work and most importantly: me-work.

If you, or somebody you know, is looking to part ways with a 92-02 900 Supersport of any variation, please let me know. I'm not ruling out a bike that has some crash damage, even if its more than just bodywork damage. (But I need a straight frame and no damage to the motor). Cosmetics aren't really that much of a concern.

Let me know if anything comes up!  waytogo

No specific help here but I know McKraut had a 900SS for a while then sold it to a13bpilot who completely rebuilt it into a track day only sled. Not sure of the year model. Also, Samsonite currently owns a 900SS and uses it for track days. Again, not sure of the year. PM any of those guys for info, tips, warnings, suggestions, etc...

Not to get in the way of Tommy's sales efforts but Eurosport Cycles in Ft. Worth has a 1998 900SS with 11,280 on the clock for $3,695. Although Tommy's bike is already set up for what you want and for a good price. waytogo  And if Stuart Rust laid his healing hands on it you know it is well tuned and sorted. And you know it's recent history... hard to beat.

I just left Eurosport about an hour ago, dropped of the Triumph for service.  The '98 they they have there is nice, It was a half fairing one (I think they're the CR model?)  It was a good deal.  I always wanted to convert an older style to a Supermono....

Here's a company that sells the bodywork to do so...

Yeah, the CR is the half-faired model. Drool.

Tommy, we need to talk dollars and scents. You heard that right, scents. I'm looking to do some motor work eventually to the bike I end up with, I've got a set of race cams / adj. pulleys & valves for a 900 and at this time, I don't have a 900 to put it in. You might say "Hey you idiot, what about your 900?!" - I know, I have a set of torque grind cams and corresponding valves for it, already have the adj. pulleys on it.

So short story is, I have parts for a bike that I do not yet own.

I didn't think the SS motors were the same as the monster 900's, can you use those parts properly on an SS?

Let me just attest to the awesomeness of T's bike. I've been on a couple a trackdays already with him and the machine is a true Gorilla bike. The F*n torque is unbelievable. Unbeknowst to T I took this baby for a short stroll down the block while off loading from the trailer so I could 'turn it around' and head it into the garage. This bike maybe short on the top end but enough top end to make you say uncle or if you're looking for kick you in the seat of the pants driving on a finely tuned bike with lots of upgrades this is the bike you want. I just wish I had a video of T opening up that beast onto the straight at TWS las week. OMG it stole the show! It was thunder! With some valve work this bike will beat up most SBKs on the track. JMTC

The SS and M motors for the 900 are the same in SOME instances. 97-98 M900 motors got stuck with really crappy valves/cams. The other change, which is through the board, is the transition from 2p small alternators to the larger 3p (note the change in alternator side case from the little 'boob' sticking out, to the big 'pec' if you will. i just went there.)

The I.E. bikes got livelier cams than the Carb'd (hence my wanting to get something zippier for my M900), and the ST2 has the liveliest from the factory (its what Chris Kelley and Guy Martin put in their Testarossa Motors). The VeeTwo -210 grind is the same as the DP part back in the day (06090 - 964034AAA)

Valve size wise, the 43/38 intake exhaust I believe is the same. Likewise, the set of cams I have are for 900SS/M. They may even work in 750's, but I haven't bothered to take note of that info as it has passed by.

http://www.bikeboy.org/duccamspec.html

I have 210's for my future trackbike, they have gobs of top end. I'm looking to have, eventually, testarossa heads via MBP done. I know big ambitions.

I have 210's for my Monster, which will eventually get put in.
