4kms?

The tyres would need to go, that old and never used you would have deteriorated or have flat spots if they weren't on a stand.

I'm asusming it's had all of the fluids drained over that period?

I prefer the older the bike is the higher the kms i would like to see. That way i know the owner would have done more frequent servicing. I know of many examples of older cars left in immaculate condition but have rusted or seized engine/parts. My Aunty's Mazda RX7 with 10,000kms was in mint condition. The engine and other parts however had all seized so money had to go in to make it run.

If it was me, i would keep some cash aside for an engine rebuild and moving part replacements. If that's say $2k-$3k, add that on top of the purchase price and see if it's still worth it.

40,000kms on a bike doesn't concern me at all.

I know a bike that looked like that once Grin

Gauge lenses aren't even cracked Shocked but the fact it has never been outside might have something to do with that.

How could someone do that to a monster.  I hate leaving mine for more than a month or two between rides in winter!!!

As SG says I would be very wary about moving parts that have been sitting for that long.  Could be an expensive exercise considering the seller wants more than the current bid of $5K.

But if you just want one to add to the loungeroom collection......

the only thing that could be  wrong with it would be  battery and seals and belts there would be no acid in the oil and no water in the brake lines being kept in side

what is anyone going to do with a 620?

specially over $5k....that's a lot of money by the time you include service charge to get her to SAFE condition.

I'm with SG on this one....K's don't worry me at all.....regular servicing and changing of parts is much more preferable in my eyes than left to sit somewhere!

if i were back on my L's i'd be happy to consider something at that price range, and more so with the low mileage.

think like a learner (and most likely complete n00b)-- $5k to own an actual near-new ducati as opposed to a monster-wannabe vtr250 @$7k new is pretty appealing..

... ummm ride it  Huh?

I reckon you'd look good on the mini-bike ... it was a good fit for Goldie ...

... wondering if he could actually get his foot up onto the footpeg ... and if he would then be able to get the pipes off the ground cheeky

and that's my exact point, Goldie is a great example....the person who buys this will spend a good 1 to 3 k ensuring it's safe....and for that sort of money they'd be able to hunt down a great m800, in my un-humble opinion the jump from the 6** series to the 8** series is pretty great and definitely worth the money (at this stage of the bidding I don't even think there's any $ extra to spend).

the person who buys this isn't thinking straight...either they are new and don't know the pitfalls and should stop thinking Ducati and start thinking new Hyosang 250r OR they simply lack the mental power to do the arithmetic on what the end cost to make this bike safe is going to cost.

and that's my exact point

But I think you missed mine.

If you haven't quite manage to stretch out beyond 160cm the reduced seat height of the 620, although small, can make a huge difference.

As for the comparison between the 620 and 800 in my experience they do ride quite differently but I wouldn't call it a big jump ... just different.

The differences actually makes it a little hard to compare - it really depends on what you are looking for ... many of the differences between Jukie (620) and Betty (800) I think come down to the gearing and gearbox (oh and maybe a little bit to do with the exhaust).

Jumping on the 800 after the 620 it feels positively docile (much like its owner).

And no-one has mentioned the cam belts!!  Shocked

See what this place does to you. I am mechanically inept, but even I assumed that was a given.
