I wasn't happy with the flipped U bracket I made, and I didn't want to just buy some fork clamps to mount the headlight either...

So, I wasted about a day screwing around till I came up with something

1/4" stainless rod, .600" bungs I turned on the lathe.

Turning stock

Bungs and rod

Headling bracket tacked up

Hmmm....this is boring..

I know, lets make it look like the frame

On bike

I was going to powdercoat it black, but I think the 1/4" is small enough I could PC it to match the frame and not take away too much balance on the bike.  You can also see my headlight lens I made and HID Bixenon projector in the picture..

I made a small fixture and heat formed lexan to the approx shape of the stock headlight lens.  I did this because I wanted to use a bi-xenon projector inside the stock bucket.  The monster has classic lines, and I didn't want to deviate from them too much, hence using the stock bucket.

The stock headlight SUCKS, so I wanted a clean/crisp HID beam with the stock bucket.  After learning how to form the lexan, I've got it :)

Waiting for the tefzel wire to arrive, finish the wiring mods to the bike and RIDE it.  Should be less than 2 weeks with everything I need.  Can't wait, I havn't ridden the monster for almost a year now!

Does it have low/hi beam as well as a running light?

Taft,
A few quick things:
1) Awesome!
2) Are you still doing the headlight bracket swap and chop?
3) What's going on with the coloring of your forks? Is it just grease and a funny reflection? It looks reddish black. Just curious.

Hi beam, low beam, and I guess a running light as well (there is one of those LED "angel eye" spreads about the projector).  All bixenon really means to me is there is a movable shield inside the projector that adjusts the height of the cutoff (and hence hi/low).  This way you get the HID high beam NOW, because otherwise it would take a few seconds to a minute to warm up correctly.  Also not good for HID's to turn them on/off rapidly either, so bixenon is how car MFG solved the problem.

1 - Thanks!

2 - Yes, and I've got one bracket sitting on the shelf at the moment.  It's shaved completely though, so no fairing to be mounted on this one

3 - Forks are 1098 base model worked over that have been hard anodized black.  They are dusty/dirty at the moment.  I think some of the coloring you are picking up if from the flash of the camera and the red walls on my garage.

can you post some more pics and details about the kit you used for your headlight? and how you got the clear lense?

also whats going on with your forks there?

For those of you who are looking for a clear-lens headlight but without the trouble involved in forming your own lexan and acquiring an HID projector, might I suggest the Desmoworld Monster Clear-Glass Headlight kit. Its the complete bucket/ring/lens. Its what is on my Monster, shown below:

(Shown with HID headlight. Yeah, not a projector, but it was bright and damn those other drivers.)
