was a exhaust turbine... looks like it might be from a variable vain turbo.

if so, its pretty nicely exploded.

it looks like a red x to me...then again i can't see most of the pictures that get posted while i'm at work.

Yeah, taken with my phone at work.


Acalles, Yup exhaust turbine out of a Cayenne Turbo S.  Took out the O2 sensor and cat.   [thumbsup]

These intake vanes are not supposed to be bent at the tips.  Notice the gap on the side. [bang]

Any idea what caused the failure?  Or was it just a lot of hours/miles on it?

100,000 miles but I dont know why it failed.  Other turbo is fine but I am replacing them both as a precautionary measure.  First failure I have seen like this.

Does Porsche use the oil filter bracket to provide pressure to the turbos? I've had junk stick inside those things and kill turbos on TDI's and some 1.8t's before. since it looks like a pregnant dog to get in there, I would throw one on if thats the case.
