S2R1K Exhaust Opinions Needed
«

So I am trying to figure out what exhaust I would like to fit to my S2R1K and have hit a bit of a snag. Thus, this post...
I would really like to go to a 2-1 system similar to the Termi Hyper setup (
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3220/2892734134_9104cdfebc.jpg
). I did some photoshop mocks of fitting that exhaust to the monster and it just was a bit too long for my tastes and would require quite a bit of modification of the S-pipes to get it to sit along the lines of the monster. So, I guess it is an option, but I would probably want to cut down the cans a little bit to get it where I wanted it.
So I started looking around at other 2-1 options. Marving has one as does Akrapovic but both of them sit really far off the frame for some reason. It looks like they sit in between the placement of the stock cans. I was really hoping for something that tucked in nice and high and showed off that back wheel. The other options seem to be shotgun style like the stockers or highmount.
I have looked at:
Zard - Highmount
Arrow - Highmount and Shotgun
Akrapovic - Has a 2-1 for the S4R so something could probably be rigged, but sits really far off the frame and has a strange bracket.
http://www.akrapovic.com/motorcycle-exhaust/products/ducati/model/monster-s4rs-2006/evolution-6
Remus - Highmount
Marving - Has a 2-1 but the can looks huge in the images I have seen. Also looks to be mounted low to fit under passenger peg.
Quat-D - Like the Ex-Box, but not really the look I am going for.
So, I am up for recommendations or directions. Have I really reached the point where my pickiness over the look of this has made it so that I have to build a custom rig or is there a product out there that i have missed?
What do you guys think?

Man, there are so many options as you can see online...
I have a an S2R1K with tail chop and the Termi full system with shortened Termi's. The dealer did the termi and tail chop and I think it looks very good and proportionate. If you are going for looks and exposing the SSA wheel, I would go with the boom tubes which I am actually thinking about switching to. If you want a full Termi system, let me know
All depends on what your main motivation is.

Here's the one I built for my Monster. I liked the 2 into 1 design as well.

Mash, that is exactly it. I was hoping that I wouldn't have to custom it, but looks like that is going to be the case. Any chance that you have the technical info on that one?

If you like it, contact Swampduc. He recently bought the bike from me and I heard he is changing out the exhaust to some Boomtubes or something similar. He may be willing to sell you the one that is on the bike.

I have the Akro on my S4Rs and it's pretty mean looking.
IMO the hanger is a great piece of CF instead of the usual metal strap most pipes get.
Have a peak at my flickr pages and you'll see some real pics of the pipe not just a single studio shot.
Enjoy shopping and picking your system.

MattyVas,
Thanks for the link to those pictures. Great looking bike! The real issue with the Akro is that they don't make it for the S2R1K, so at minimum the headers would need to be fixed up.
Mash,
I will give Swampduc a shout about the exhaust. If that worked out it would be, dare I say, perfect?

Thanks man.
I find that I seldom find things I like right out of the box. I like everything I own to have my personal touches on it.
Where are you located? If you're in the New England area you can bring your bike by and I can fab something up for you if you want something a little different.

DarkStaR,
Thanks for the pic, that is a really nice setup. However, I really would prefer to stick with a single sided exhaust to really offset the SSS.

I am located in Texas, so New England would be a bit of a commute. There are a couple of places nearby that can do this kind of work and that I would trust with my bike, so that is always an option. Of course, when Swampy checks his mail, that may be a moot point as well!

Nobody mentioned the Leo Vince slip-on. Want a full system? Get a Marving/Sparks/Termi/etc. midpipe. LV makes good quality stuff and they have an operation here in Richmond, CA.
