If only DMG were so forward thinking.

Oh c'mon!! Everyone knows the best way to start a new series is waltz in like you're ordained by the divine to rule over 2 wheeled sport, alienate the supliers of the funds for the series (without an alternative), alienate the fans with a ridiculous "WWF Wrestling" style TV package, and actively seek to promote the "national" brand.
Now, How can I get British TV? Is there a satellite package or something?

this tidbit alone give me hope as it puts the traction control back into the right wrist and makes the riders seem more like pilots than operators in terms of seeing them ride the s**t out of the bikes in varying styles....
"...Along with standard engines, a series specified control ECU device that eliminates any form of traction control, launch control and anti-wheelie devices will be compulsory..."
and this kinda adds weight to my thought and most spectators as well I'd bet...and gives hope to aspiring classes of racers too in terms of scraping together to go racing in a series above them if they are fast enough to qualify..
“By radically grasping the issue of electronics we will eliminate a significant cost and regain some of the spectacle that fans and riders are clearly missing. "
my only thought in regards to the challenge with this is in regards how it will affect some machines that are evolutionarily being designed with the electronic aids to tame the beasts they create and make them more rideable and how they will perform without those aids...
any way you slice it, it'll be interesting!

It's definitely a gray area. Would such a rule eliminate bikes like the 1198s if it were applied to superbike-style classes? Where is the line between simple power mapping (a la PCIII) and wheelie control/traction control? And if there's a control ECU, won't teams find other ways to engineer around that now-static variable?
Then again, these guys aren't talking about dyno'ing bikes after every race
