These "medical" conditions never existed until the drugs to treat them were invented.  ;)

No taking xanax anymore, moved Clonazepam, longer acting and works better for me too.

I am working on my dosing now, as I just started but I think 1mg 3x a day will be the ticket.
I don't know either of you guys' histories, so I'm not trying to contradict your docs, but nowadays, the 1st line treatments for anxiety are SSRIs (eg Paxil, Zoloft, etc.), as opposed to benzodiazepines, which are almost inevitably habit-forming given time. But hell, as long as you're feeling better and better able to function, whatever works  [thumbsup]

As 'tizz said, these things existed, we just "managed" them with prisons and alcoholism. That was Much better  [roll]

I am taking Strattera which can't be mixed with SSRI's.

It has driven my anxiety up, so I need to counteract it.

Right.  Back then we had exorcism, expulsion from the community and burning at the stake to deal with them.

Depression?  No.. You've just got melancholia.  Drink some more whisky!
Anxiety?  No.. you're just possessed by demons.

I still maintain that these "illnesses" are fabrications by big pharmacy to extract as much pennies as they can out of our ridiculous health care programs. I would much rather pay for a bottle or two of tequila for my "condition" than have $100 bucks a week taken out of my check to pay for insurance that I hardly use.  [popcorn]

well that's a wholly different issue.

some folks do well being treated with alcohol.  others, not so well.  spend some time with native alaskans and you see a different story.

my high school gf's brother is in prison for beating a guy to death with his bare hands.  he was drunk and doesn't even remember it.

i don't disagree that mental illness is relative.  i always think of the Tool song Aenema -- Fret for your figure and ,Fret for your latte and, Fret for your lawsuit, hairpiece, prozac, pilot, cable , etc etc

suffering is relative.  plus, when people are busy, they don't stop and whine about the weather.

but plenty of illness is legitimate and if pumping someone full of drugs keeps them from turning into a homicidal maniac, i am all for it, provided there is some oversight.

"Yelling out of cars, turning your speakers out the window to blast your music onto the street, setting off M-80 firecrackers, firing automatic weapons into the airâ€"these are all well and good. But none of them create a merry atmosphere of insouciance and bonhomie quite like a revving motorcycle.

Dude, you are just all messed up eh?

Um, not really.

You'd be surprised the amount of people that are on medication.

They probably just choose not to talk about it.

I really don't mind talking about.

I guess my wife is messed up too since she is on zoloft.

Dude, you know me. Besides, I wouldn't be surprised to know how many people are on meds, remember what I do for a living.

My current med list consists of Nexium for GERD and Naprosyn for my knee.

I tried 1/2 a Xanax once in my wilder years. Had a couple of drinks with it too. Gave me one hell of a hard on. The company I was with didn't seem to mind it either.  Good times.  [thumbsup]
