08 monster 695 OVERHEATING! at 248??? HELP!

Hey guys... I just picked up a 695 a little bit ago, and rode it recently to find out that its showing "HI" on the oil temp sensor after about 248 degrees.... Now I know this ain't right because by brothers 620 runs at around 280 no prob... I changed the oil just recently, and its doing the same thing... Anyone know the problem or has come across this before?? Was told it might be a bad sensor, but not sure. (If this is the issue, would someone mind showing me where the sensor is located?) BTW, was riding in bout 85 degree sunny weather. Thanks for any info or help.

That's really odd. The HI shouldn't come on until around 331. Sounds like it's time for a trip to the dealer...

Check the connection to the temp sensor, it gets knocked loose pretty easy. Just pull back the rubber guard and make sure it is on there good. Not sure why that would cause the HI indicator to come on, but strangeness there leads to all kinds of problems.

Where is this sensor located?

oil temp sensor should be near the giant plug for your oil screen? or ON it? can't recall... haven't looked recently, but it's on the right side of the bike, near your oil screen plug.

On the bottom, with a rubber L shape cover. Inside it slides on and off. Usually it will read - - - or jump around, but who knows.
