So, I was happy with buying a new bike.

"Thats all I need" I tell myself. In fact I convinced myself.

Then while waiting for delivery I find the DMF and start reading, joining in on posts and having a giggle at the vast vairety of degenerate yet accomodating funny members on here riding monsters. And then i read about the Bling. which, before my Monster days i thought was just left to those Rice racing evo types. pfft. Not so I soon discovered.

Then I go out to Concourse and see some monsters in blinged state. Converted. bang head

Arggh. now I wanna start modding everything but the 696 sticker. And thats only becuase I havnt come up with what to change the sticker to yet....

Any way my questions is: After removing a part. Do you recommend keeping it, or selling it to pay for more parts?

And if I keep it, how long do you think before I have enough spares to beuild a complete new bike.....

What do you lot do?

BTW. I don't really hate you lot.

Keep'em, until you have a spare to your spare then sell the OEM parts.
Spares are always handy.

When were you at Concourse? did you meet anyone from the board?
Enjoy your new bling addiction!

Might make them into bits of Ducati furniture around the house. My mate has side mirrors on the side of his beer fridge. Looks hillarious.

Didnt meet any one at the concourse. That I know of.... problem with online aliases and avatars. No thats not me. I keep a low profile. Plus bike didnt come, drove the cage as the mrs wanted to come - probbaly to make sure I didnt spend anymore money. hahah. . Wife is pregnant - so her pillion days are over for a while.

I was lucky enough to buy a secondhand average condition monster so a few replacement parts  and bling were necessary.

But i think it would be easier  just to buy a frame ,engine, wiring loom and go from there. Roll Eyes

Hence my avatar is fitting Dr Phil you /we need make the beast with two backsing help laughingdp

Spot on. This is where we have fallen down in the past when someone has suggested we should have enough parts to build another bike ... people tend not to have spare frames and engines.

Also shows how superficial we are we choose to express our individualism when these are the things which are rarely changed - everything else is up for grabs.

Some people keep the stock bits until they realise they are kidding themselves and that the bike is never going back to stock and any damage will be replaced with more aftermarket goodness.

Wow. Not much help here. Keep it all you say. Now I need a bigger house with bigger garage. So I have to now mod the house. Or perhaps convert the newly appointed nusery (due in beginning of Jan) back into a workshop.

There are some who think that blinged monsters are a bit like those blinged WRXs, Supras and EVOs,  they all start to look the same after a while and to own a stock one with zero bling is really expressing your individuality and good taste. Evil

Ha Ha you have been got big time  laughingdp.  It's taken them 3 years to get me blinging my bike and that only started due to a faulty wheel bearing  bang head.

I will be keeping my old parts unless someone more needy requires them. You may need to put OEM (legal) parts back on if  Police is not happy. Not saying that all bling is illegal but sometimes  Police may not know all the regulations just like I don't.

As to meeting up with board members, go on one of the rides, exchange mobile numbers (via pm).  We are just as much fun in real life.

The Sydney members used to meet up on Thursday nights but I think other things have taken priority lately (babies on the way, track bikes to work on etc)

Maybe the NSW members should start a pregnant/new bub/deserted monster SO social gathering!  cheeky Must be something in the water up there.

I'm a "Stock Part Keeper" as well......

Although some bits have gone to good DMF homes....  waytogo

I often go into the garage and say to myself that I'm going to sell all this stuff... But never do....  bang head

One day......  Roll Eyes

That I can understand too. In trying to be different we all become the same. See the "emo" phase. Though I think they all committed suicide. I hope my fascination won't leed to that.
